Saint Anthony West is a residential community sandwiched between the Mississippi River and the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District. Residents can go boating on the river or enjoy the Arts District’s galleries and events. The community's location is a plus

Saint Anthony West puts access to the best of the city at the forefront. The neighborhood has a handful of shops and restaurants that people can walk to, and it borders the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, four neighborhoods filled with galleries that often host events. Even the neighborhood’s layout lends itself to keeping people connected. “It’s a classic urban grid, but it’s still Minneapolis, so there are little parks throughout,” says Scott Parkin, the owner and broker at Verve Realty, based out of nearby Nicollet Island. Trees planted along most streets help the area feel less urban than the downtown neighborhoods across the Mississippi River. It also has a strong sense of community: The Saint Anthony West Neighborhood Organization, or STAWNO, holds meetings to talk about issues affecting the area and serves to keep residents informed of events happening in and around the region.

Downtown is across the Mississippi River

The neighborhood is around 2 miles from Downtown West and the city’s business district, where national companies like U.S. Bank and Target are headquartered. Residents can drive there in less than 10 minutes with normal traffic. Metro Transit buses stop in the community, and a ride downtown takes 15-20 minutes. It’s also possible to walk or bike there thanks to the sidewalks and bike lanes on 1st Avenue Northeast and East Hennepin Avenue. It’s a similar distance to North Loop’s restaurant scene and Target Field, the home of the Minnesota Twins baseball team.

People can hit the water at Boom Island Park

Outdoor fun centers on Boom Island Park, where a boat launch helps visitors get their canoes and kayaks onto the Mississippi River. The park also has a playground, several picnic areas, and walking and bike paths that connect with neighboring green spaces. One of those, B.F. Nelson Park, is a quiet, dog-friendly area, while another, Graco Park, contains the River Hub, a large recreation center that hosts arts and fitness classes, as well as other community workshops. Elsie’s is a popular bowling alley with 16 lanes and a cosmic style on weekends; it also has an elevated food menu.

Students are served by a highly rated district

Students are served by the highly rated Minneapolis Public Schools District, but they can attend any school outside of that district , depending on available spots, thanks to the state’s open enrollment policy. Private schools like nearby DeLaSalle High School are an alternative, as are citywide magnet schools, like Marcy Arts Elementary School in Marcy-Holmes, which use enrollment lotteries.

Car broken into and the ignition stolen, just a week after moving to neighborhood. Moved into New apartments just built and the window construction bad. Saw a guy snorting cocaine or some drug at the local McDonald's restaurant.
