Welcome to Standish
The quiet suburb of Standish offers residents stable, thriving and quiet living just minutes from downtown Minneapolis. The community was established in the early 1900s, and many homes still stand. Standish got its name from an area elementary school called Miles Standish, after a work by the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. Standish is a close-knit community where residents come together through organizations such as the Standish-Ericsson Neighborhood Association (SENA), YMCA and block clubs. Block parties and barbecues are a part of regular life here, and neighbors really get to know each other. Residents have access to amenities like the light rail and natural beauty including Lake Hiawatha, Minnehaha Creek, Minnehaha Falls and the Mississippi River.
