A rural city turned Orlando bedroom community

The Central Florida city of Minneola, once acres of orange groves, has steadily transformed from a once-sleepy rural area into a full-fledged bedroom community of 16,000 located just outside Orlando. "The developers have done a masterful job of putting the new Minneola community together, with quality homes, the new South Lake Medical Center and a great variety of retailers and restaurants,” says Mike Mondello, a resident and a Realtor with RE/MAX Properties SW since 2011.

During the summer, Minneola Trailhead Park hosts Movie in the Park, a free, family-friendly evening of entertainment. Highway 27 runs along the east edge of Lake Minneola and is an especially convenient thoroughfare for getting around. From there, Mondello says, "You can get on Highway 50 and visit both of Florida's coasts in about an hour and a half."
