A quiet suburb just 20 miles from Downtown Mobile
Though its name evokes America's earliest Mardi Gras history, D'Iberville's suburban atmosphere is a long way from the rowdy revelry that takes over Downtown Mobile each February. The small community sits about 20 miles from historic Government Street, where the city's Mardi Gras parades kick-off each year. "It's part of an area we call West Mobile," Ashleigh Watson says. A lifelong local and Realtor with Keller Williams, Watson describes D'Iberville as "a nice community where you're not in the busy parts of the city, but you're still very much a part of it, and you've got all the necessities nearby."

Waterfront views and private docks in Dawes Lake Estates
D’Iberville has multiple subdivisions, many of which were built in the early 2000s. Its wide residential streets branch off into quiet cul-de-sacs with central landscape islands. Alongside the concrete sidewalks, wide storm drains and deep ditches line nearly every street curb. This helps prevent minor street flooding during the rainy season, which runs from June through September. Most homes feature New Traditional Craftsman or ranch-style architecture. Lots are usually about a half- to three-quarters of an acre in size, with fenced-in backyards big enough for a patio and in-ground pool. On average, listings range from $200,000 to $350,000. Dawes Lake Estates has larger, similar-style homes with waterfront views and private boat docks. These properties range between 3,500 to 4,000 square feet and can list for just over $775,000.

It's just 3 miles to Airport Boulevard
D’Iberville sits between Dawes and Schillinger Roads on the far west edge of Mobile’s city limits. Both routes link to Airport Boulevard in about 3 miles, making it easy to access the new international airport along Mobile Bay. The city’s main highway system, Interstate 10 and U.S. Route 90 intersect fewer than 10 miles southeast of D’Iberville. From here, the Chevron Pascagoula Refinery is just 30 miles west, and Pensacola sits about 70 miles east.

Pineapple burritos and $3 margarita's at El Giro Mexican
Big box stores and a few local businesses border Cottage Road on the north side of D’Iberville. “You’ve got your neighborhood Walmart, and they just built a Publix right there down the street,” Watson says. Cottage Hill Seafood Supply sells fresh Gulf shrimp and steamed crab legs out of a gas station a few streets over. Two small shopping centers cluster around the neighborhood’s east corner. Schillinger Place has a 24/7 gym, regional franchises like Yellowhammer Coffee and other convenient businesses. Across the street, El Giro Mexican is a local hot spot best known for its pineapple burritos and $3 margarita specials. Mobile’s largest mall, with over 130 brand-name stores and restaurants, sits less than 8 miles east.
