Moonachie's historic roots, local entertainment and big-city access
Moonachie is a small borough in Bergen County located in the Hackensack River watershed. Stories passed down over the years say the borough was named after Monaghie, an Iroquois chief, who lived in the area's cedar forest in the 1600s. Approximately 9 miles northwest of New York City, Moonachie residents can reasonably commute into the city for work and play. But there is also so much in and near the borough.
