Suburban living near Laurel Creek Country Club

An Arnold Palmer-designed golf course runs through the Laurel Creek community, where estate-like properties share a back yard with the scenic fairway. “Laurel Creek Country Club is private, and it’s a really nice course,” says Sam Lepore, an area local and Broker with Keller Williams Moorestown who used to live in the neighborhood. “Toll Brothers built homes around it, which are four different types of housing: townhomes, a 55-plus community, single-family villas and estate homes.” On the eastern edge of historic Moorestown, a township that was founded by Quakers in the late 1600s, Laurel Creek offers suburban amenities and commuter benefits. Sidewalks weave throughout the community and beyond the neighborhood’s entrances, allowing residents an extended stroll to nearby commercial sections and park spaces, including the top-rated farmers market in the state just across the street. Families also choose Laurel Creek for its school system, which is ranked the No. 1 School District in Burlington County, according to Niche. In addition to this family-friendly atmosphere, Laurel Creek has a low CAP Index crime score of 1 out of a possible 10. Commuters appreciate this suburb for its interstate-proximity to the surrounding cities. “Everyone knows this area over here and how a lot of roads converge,” says Keith Conklin, Associate Broker with Keller Williams Realty. “You have Interstate 95, the New Jersey Turnpike, Route 38. And with that, you have the option to travel to New York City every day.” While Manhattan is about 75 miles away, Philadelphia is a more frequently-visited destination, being just 20 miles west on the interstate.

Townhomes, villa-style and estate-style homes

Laurel Creek’s housing inventory can be low, and it's not uncommon for only one home to be on the market at a time. The neighborhood is split into four sections, with two being townhome communities and two featuring different standalone housing styles. The Townhomes at Laurel Creek are the more affordable option, with 2,000- to 3,000-square-foot townhome units for about $500,000 to $600,000. Residents pay a $425 monthly Homeowners Association fee and have access to a clubhouse area that has a community pool, a playground and tennis courts. The Mews at Laurel Creek are newer townhomes for an active adult community, with units that range from 2,500 to 3,500 square feet. Price tags are generally between $700,000 and $950,000, and residents pay a $575 monthly HOA fee. Amenities include a fitness center, community pool and accessible walking paths throughout the subdivision. Both townhome communities offer attached two-car garages. These properties do not back up to the golf course, and, therefore, residents do not have fairway views. The single-family homes in Laurel Creek come in New Traditional styles with red brick or stucco facades, built between 1997 and 2001. Some properties have colonial influences and others show Georgian elements, including bay windows. “The villa styles are smaller, and they’re close together,” Lepore says. “They’re meant for people who are downsizing and still want a golf course community.” He adds that these villa homes typically have less families because of the size of their backyards. “There’s no room to put a swing set or a pool,” Lepore says. “But most do have golf course views.” The second housing style is referred to as estates, according to Lepore. “Estate homes are much bigger, more expensive, and have more land,” he says. On average, the estates sit on half-acre lots, with spacious back patio areas and landscaped grounds. Some also feature in-ground pools, and most have fairway views. Both the villa styles and the estate styles offer multi-car attached garages and driveways, and neither have a Homeowners Association. Housing sizes range from 2,750 square feet to upwards of 6,700 square feet – although, more than 4,000 is typically an outlier. Prices can vary between $835,000 for a three-bedroom and three-bathroom villa and $1.4 million for a four-bedroom and five-bathroom estate.

Neighboring the No. 1 farmers market in New Jersey

Residents of the Laurel Creek community do not have automatic access to the Laurel Creek Country Club, which is a membership-only private golf club with event space, a clubhouse pool and a dining room with a bar area. Just outside of Laurel Creek, accessed from Creek Road, Little Woods on the Rancocas is a locally-known wooded hiking area. Less than a mile west of this hidden park space, Boundary Creek is a more popular natural resource area. This 34-acre park offers walking trails through the woods, with boardwalks over the wetlands and wildlife observation decks. Located across the street from the entrance into The Mews is the Burlington County Agricultural Center, which hosts the Burlington County Farmers Market from the middle of May through the end of November. Laurel Creek residents can walk from their front door to the market, which was voted the No. 1 Farmers Market in the state in 2024, according to an online poll that was conducted by the American Farmland Trust. Not only can visitors peruse fresh produce and artisan crafts, but they can also listen to live music from a different South Jersey band every weekend.

Big-name shops and local eats at Centerton Square

Another perk to life in Laurel Creek is its proximity to big-name shopping and restaurant variety, offering residents city-like amenities without the heavy city traffic. “There are huge shopping centers very close by,” Lepore says. “You have Wegman’s, Costco, TopGolf and Target, all right there.” Less than 2 miles south of the neighborhood is Centerton Square, where, in addition to shopping, there’s a few locally adored eateries. Barone’s Tuscan Grill serves Italian cuisine in a rustic atmosphere, and Tommy’s Tavern & Tap offers an elevated pub menu along with a full bar. Also near this retail area is Rowan College at Burlington County, which partners with many local high schools to offer dual enrollment opportunities. An 8-mile jaunt down Interstate 295 brings residents to the Moorestown Mall area. This shopping mall features well-known department stores like Boscov’s, as well as a few different restaurants and brewhouses. “Harvest Seasonal Grill is a popular one, right there at the mall,” Lepore says, referring to the modern restaurant and winery that serves locally sourced food items. Also located in this commercial section are fitness facilities, hotels, Walmart and the Cooper University Health Care Hospital. Laurel Creek residents also have the option to walk to dinner, as Carlucci’s Waterfront is less than a mile from the country club. Overlooking Rancocas Creek, which flows west into the Delaware River, this traditional Italian white-tablecloth restaurant specializes in steak and seafood and offers the occasional live music on the spacious outdoor patio.

Commuting access to the cities via Interstate 295

The on-ramp to Interstate 295 is just outside of Laurel Creek, which allows for a 20-mile drive southwest into Center City and a 75-mile ride northeast to New York City. “It only takes us twenty minutes to get to Philadelphia, so we dine there quite often. It’s easy to access the interstate,” says Lepore. “And New York is an hour and a half away. A lot of people go to the Hamilton train station, thirty minutes north, and get on the Amtrak into Penn Station in Manhattan.” The Riverside station, located 6 miles west of the neighborhood, offers a more local SEPTA River Line service, with a light rail that runs from Camden to Trenton. The nearest airport is Philadelphia International Airport, which is 30 miles away via the interstate.

A tech center and the Rancocas waterway nearby

Across Centerton Road from Laurel Creek Country Club is the Laurel Creek Corporate Center, which houses the Lockheed Martin Tech Campus, an advanced aerospace technology developer. On the east side of the country club on Centerton Road, Arbor Terrace is an assisted living facility. And residents with boats, jet skis or kayaks can access the Rancocas, a waterway located on the other side of Creek Road. According to Lepore, it’s not uncommon for people to take their boats north up the creek to where it merges with the Delaware River.
