The Muncie-Delaware County Senior Citizens Center resides in the former Forest Park Elementary School. Residents age 55 and older gather for games, educational classes, bible studies and more. Ross Community Center is a hub of activity for all ages and has had several upgrades in recent years, including new sports fields in 2019. Although a MITS bus line runs through Forest Park, there is only one stop on busy Memorial Drive, the area's main east-west thoroughfare. State Route 32, or Kilgore Avenue to locals, is another bustling roadway nearby. The neighborhood is south of the White River and less than 2 miles away from downtown Muncie, Ball State University and IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.Downtown’s Walnut Street has local eats
The area is mostly residential, but tucked between homes is Atomic Comics Games & Music. Specializing in card games, tabletop role-playing games and more, the store also hosts tournaments, miniature painting classes and board game nights. Mornings may start at Riverside Café, a staple for breakfast in the area, or Rosebud Coffee House in neighboring Thomas Park-Avondale. “Forest Park isn’t really walkable to downtown, but it’s only a couple of miles away,” says Rebekah Hanna, a Realtor with Re/Max and area resident. “Anything on Walnut Street is good, like The Caffeinery, Vera Mae’s [Bistro], and Little Chicagos is a new Italian place that we really like.” Pay Less is the closest grocery store less than a mile away across the river. For retail shopping, most folks head to Muncie Mall or Muncie Plaza.
