Cul-de-sac living in White Eagle
Cul-de-sac living is common in the subdivisions surrounding White Eagle Golf Club. Single-family homes flaunt traditional architecture with stone or brick façades. Out front, sidewalks intersect driveways leading to attached two-car garages, an amenity that homebuyers can expect in White Eagle. Square lawns are well-maintained, some with modest gardens, others simply complementing the custom homes they surround. Altogether, single-family homes are priced between $500,000 to around $1 million. Townhomes are found on the corner of 95th Street and Route 59 at Naperville Crossings, a modern development where units range in price between $400,000 and $500,000.White Eagle Golf Club
White Eagle is oriented around the premier White Eagle Golf Club, where membership is common in the subdivisions surrounding it. “There are a lot of community events held at the club,” says Vanessa Bianchi, a broker with The Ville Team at Coldwell Banker Realty. “They’re often run by mothers. We have a kid’s summer camp with tennis, golf and swimming lessons, plus classes hosted throughout the year.” Professional and social golf tournaments are held on the 27-hole layout, which includes three 9-hole courses spanning 163 acres. Also on the grounds is a 25-yard members pool, which packs a full house during the summer. Next door is White Eagle Park, where a multi-purpose field rests beside ball courts and a playground. Along Fairmont Avenue, Heatherstone Park shares a similar layout and includes a walking path around its central pond. More expansive amenities are found at Frontier Park, less than a mile south. More than a dozen multi-purpose fields are interconnected by paved trails, leading to the skate park, playgrounds, ball courts and nature overlook.Naperville’s A-rated school district
The Indian Prairie Community Unit School District 204 serves White Eagle, where studies begin at the community’s titular primary school. With an A-plus on Niche, White Eagle Elementary begins pulling academically talented students in the third grade. The program, Project Arrow, continues on at Still Middle School, which earns an A on Niche. There, students can begin their athletic journeys in preparation for attendance at Waubonsie Valley High School, which receives an A-plus from Niche. The extensive list of sports offerings at Waubonsie Valley has yielded several professional athletes in national sports leagues, including football, soccer, baseball and basketball. The highly esteemed music program has won six Grammy Awards, while the in-house planetarium is one of just two of a kind in the state. The deal-breaking Metra station
The Route 59 Metra is about 4 miles north of White Eagle, where ample commuter parking is a perk. “When we moved here, the Metra was a dealbreaker,” Bianchi jests. “We didn’t want to have to take a bus or walk to the train, especially when it’s cold. We wanted to drive! This Metra has plenty of available parking, and it’s only 12 minutes up the road.” Riders can expect an hour-long commute to Downtown Chicago, while drivers can reach the city in about 39 miles on Interstates 290 and 88. Chicago Midway International Airport is 35 miles east on I-55. Bus stops are offered along Route 59 for local travel, while bike lanes are found on White Eagle Drive. The closest emergency room is located at Rush Copley Medical Center, about 3 miles west.Locally-owned and culturally diverse eateries on Route 59
Route 59 borders White Eagle to the east, a bustling thoroughfare serving a large fraction of Naperville’s neighborhoods. “South Naperville is really diverse, so we have a lot of small businesses that are locally owned and run by families,” says Bianchi, a Colombian resident herself who has helped many immigrant families acclimate to the community. “There are tea shops and coffee shops that you’ll only find here, and they’re very ethnic. Sometimes they even sell the products that they use.” Chai Ho Jai Tea Room is one such place, where South Asian specialties range from milk tea to Lacha Paratha. Paris Bistro is an upscale French eatery serving fine wine and “the best crepes,” according to Bianchi. Nearby grocers include Jewel-Osco and Aldi, where retail spots like Kohl’s, Target and Menards are found on the way to Plainfield. Shopping on a larger-scale is had at Fox Valley Mall, just 3 miles up the road.
