Eastwood
Eastwood shopping and dining
Eastwood has plenty of restaurants in and around the neighborhood, as well as a central retail block at Chapel and Greenwood that features a bar, bridal shop, florist and bookstore. Gallatin Avenue has both an ALDI and a Kroger for groceries along with a rich selection of local eateries. "There are so many amazing local shops and restaurants, an insane amount of local stuff," Gomez says. An old-school country diner, The Nashville Biscuit House is known throughout the city for its friendly service, chicken fried steak and plates full of biscuits and gravy. Once Upon A Time In France is a traditional Parisian-style café with entrees like escargot and steak frites. East Side Banh Mi is a trendy Vietnamese spot and Pearl Diver is a vibey bar serving pina coladas and other creative cocktails in a cozy atmosphere with colorful lighting. Gallatin Avenue also has plenty of music venues to explore like The East Room and eccentric shops like Black Shag Vintage and Hail, which sells a curated collection of taxidermy, antiques and other oddities. “Noko is an amazing restaurant right on the cusp of Eastwood, and Café Roze is locally owned by renowned chef Julia Jaksic,” Drimmer says. “There’s a wonderful kids’ toy store called Tabla Rosa Toys where you can find families hanging out after school. It doubles as a soft-serve ice cream and coffee shop, and there’s a skate park outside. It’s a nice community spot.” On the neighborhood's south end, Rosepepper is an award-winning Mexican restaurant that Nashville Scene readers have voted as the city's best margarita for the past 11 years. The Eastwood Neighbors Association
The Eastwood Neighbors Association hosts community events throughout the year, like potluck picnics, ice cream socials, community clean-ups and general meetings. The neighborhood association's Facebook page also promotes events put on by local businesses, like jazz nights at Café Roze, in-store performances at Vinyl Tap and fish fries at St. Ann's Episcopal Church. From early 20th-century bungalows to modern new builds
Eastwood has a rich variety of architecture, ranging from charming early 20th-century bungalows to modern townhouses and contemporary Craftsman-style new builds. Prices here are comparable to other East Nashville neighborhoods but high for Nashville at large, with an average home value costing over $100,000 more than the average for the metro area. “Eastwood and Lockeland Springs [to the south] are very similar neighborhoods,” Drimmer says. “Eastwood has slightly larger lots than Lockeland Springs, so it’s become equally as desirable if not slightly more because you still have the same walkability to dozens of restaurants but slightly larger yards and beautiful old historic estates.” Here, $400,000 to $800,000 can buy a townhouse or smaller single-family home, while $800,000 to $1.2 million buys a large new build or recently renovated historic home. The market here moves quickly, with homes selling after an average of 28 days.Eastland Park, Shelby Park and Shelby Bottoms
Eastland Park is a small neighborhood green space with a playground, basketball court, picnic tables and walking paths. To the south, Shelby Park sits on 300 acres and has a community center, dog park, municipal golf course and boat ramps into the Cumberland River. East of Shelby Park, Shelby Bottoms has nearly 10 miles of paved trails on its almost 1000 riverside acres. The park also has a nature center where visitors can learn about its ecosystem and the area's culture and history.A walkable community 10 minutes from downtown Nashville
Eastwood is a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood about 4 miles northeast of downtown Nashville. "You're 10 to 15 minutes from downtown Nashville," Gomez says. "You still live in a neighborhood setting, but you're still very close, and it's full of restaurants and shops in a community that's very proud of their local businesses." Within the neighborhood, residents can walk to shops, restaurants, Kroger and Publix, and the WeGo Public Transit bus stop on Gallatin Pike connects Eastwood to destinations throughout the city. The neighborhood's nearest medical center is Nashville General Hospital, 5 miles west. The Nashville International Airport is 11 miles southeast.Metro Nashville Public Schools
Eastwood students attend Lockeland Elementary, which has a B-plus grade and ranks as the fourth best public elementary school in Davidson County on Niche. Lockeland Elementary offers Spanish lessons starting in kindergarten and weekly social-emotional learning sessions. Students continue to East Nashville Middle School and East Nashville Magnet High School, both of which have C-minuses. Eastwood is also home to Cora Howe School, a specialized elementary, middle and high school for students with learning differences. Cora Howe has not been rated on Niche.Crime
Eastwood's crime score on the CAP Index is 4 out of 10, which is on par with the national average.
