A rare gem in the Music City
Neely’s Bend mostly remains an untouched gem in an otherwise growing and urbanized city. Named for the “bend” in the Cumberland River, this Nashville neighborhood consists of acres of pastures and woodlands accessible only with a narrow two-lane road. Typical scenes here include farm-themed weddings set against a backdrop of the rolling, forested hills and the Nashville skyline. Or horseback riders and joggers taking to some park trails as remote-controlled aircraft buzz in the distance. “To me, the best part of living down there is it’s the country part of Madison,” says Jackie Daniel, who owns the Barn in the Bend property with her husband David and who lives in lower Neely’s Bend. “It’s just the wide open spaces. It’s like nobody believes you can live this close to the city and be in the country, too. The location is excellent; to be able to feel like you’re out in the country, but yet can easily access all the shops, eateries and the downtown environment.”

The park is also a birding spot, where some occasionally catch glimpses of a bald eagle. The park has a boat launch for those looking to get on the river. Other nearby recreational sites include the Hermitage Golf Course, which Golf Digest recognizes as one of the top playing grounds in the state. The golf club boasts two 18-hole and championship-level courses. The Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park provides more activities for children and teens.
