Hidden Valley is a quiet neighborhood on the south side of New Hope, home to single-family homes, an elementary school, a church and the local park. Hidden Valley is also only a mile away from a strip mall, several local restaurants and a Hy-Vee grocery store. "It has a small-town feel in the middle of all the big cities in the Twin Cities. We have Maple Grove, Plymouth, Minnetonka and all sorts of other communities within 10 minutes of us."

Hidden Valley's 1960s housing and New Hope's incentives for home improvement
Most homes in Hidden Valley were built in the 1960s and feature ranch-style or split-level architecture. The neighborhood also has some 1990s-era new traditional homes. Most streets in the neighborhood do not have sidewalks, but the homes do have large, lush yards that are often well-shaded by mature trees. Recently properties have sold from $350,000 to $465,000. The city of New Hope incentivizes homeowners through various programs, including a scattered site housing program, where the city buys lots and sells them to developers to raise property values, and an annual home improvement competition. "Our RAVE! Awards reward residents for improving their property – remodeling the kitchen or having a beautiful yard, things like that," Isenberg says.

Robbinsdale Area Schools
All students in the neighborhood attend Sonnesyn Elementary, which is located on the east side of the neighborhood and many parents here walk their kids to school. Sonnesyn Elementary earns a C grade from Niche. After that, students may continue on to Sandburg Middle School and Armstrong High, which earn C-plus and B ratings, respectively. Armstrong High has a graduation rate of over 90%, more than 75 clubs and activities and one of Minnesota's largest AP programs.
Robbinsdale Armstrong Senior High is ranked above average with a an overall 'B' grade on Niche.
Sandburg Middle School enrolls over 400 students in grades 6-8.

Hidden Valley Park
Hidden Valley Park is located in the southeast corner of Hidden Valley, just south of Sonnesyn Elementary. For many residents, this park is a short walk away from home and serves as one of the local gathering places. The park features a mile-loop and one-third-mile-loop trails, a modern playground built in 2018 and tennis courts with pickleball lines. In the winter, the park has an outdoor ice-skating rink and a hill that's popular for sledding.

Winnetka Commons is this community's local strip mall, about a mile away. Its home to a mix of local and chain restaurants and stores. "There's a neighborhood hardware store and a handful of nice places to eat," Isenberg says. "There's a breakfast place that people come from all over the Twin Cities for called Fat Nat's. There's a local pizza place slash bar and grill called Frankie's. The owner of that establishment is a pillar of the community for all the stuff he does, donating meals and helping out with different events." Arkady's Market is a small Russian deli and German bakery less than a mile from Hidden Valley. For groceries, many residents shop at the Hy-Vee in the middle of town, 2 miles north.
Fat Nat's Eggs and its famous breakfast menu are dining favorites in Hidden Valley.

U.S. Route 169 connects to Minneapolis
Hidden Valley is a car-dependent neighborhood on the southwest side of New Hope and 10 miles northwest of Minneapolis. Its location along U.S. Route 169 provides convenient access into the city.
