Getting around Newark and commuting to Manhattan
North Broadway is a walkable neighborhood where NJ Transit buses run along Broadway to the nearby Newark Broad Street station. From there, the Montclair-Boonton and Morris & Essex lines offer direct service to Hoboken and New York Penn Station in Manhattan, while the Newark Light Rail connects to Newark Penn Station in Downtown Newark for access to PATH and Amtrak trains. Drivers have less than a 20-mile trip into the city via the Holland or Lincoln tunnels. “When my husband drives into the city for work, he tries to get onto the tunnel early to get that lower off-peak rate,” Davidson says. Newark Liberty International Airport is less than 10 miles south.
