Chabot Park is a residential neighborhood in the southeastern side of Oakland, about 12 miles from downtown. The community is surrounded by vast outdoor recreational spaces, from the Oakland Zoo to the Anthony Chabot Regional Park. “The real highlight of this neighborhood is that it’s next to all of these large parks and green spaces, and it’s also in the hills, which gives you some really nice views,” says Aimee Song, a longtime East Bay Realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage. “People who choose to live here tend to be ones that enjoy the outdoors because there’s so much of that around.”

The site’s Bass Cove and Goldenrod Trail Loop is a 3.7-mile hike that overlooks Lake Chabot Reservoir, which is a popular spot for kayaking and fishing. The park also includes recreational activities, like a frisbee golf course, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and the scenic, 27-hole Lake Chabot Golf Course open to the public. The Oakland Zoo is adjacent to the neighborhood and is home to over 850 native and exotic animals.
