The developer who built the subdivision of Oakmore in the 1920s considered it a "sacred obligation" to preserve the area's ancient oak trees. Route 13 borders the neighborhood
Oakmore is bordered by California State Route 13, which runs through Alameda County and connects to nearby U.S. Interstate Highway 580, making it easy for residents to maneuver the area and commute into downtown. For those who prefer public transit, Alameda-Contra Costa Transit's Line 650 bus runs through the neighborhood, picking up along Lincoln Avenue and Leimert Boulevard, which snakes through the neighborhood's west side. To travel internationally, residents can head to Oakland International Airport, about 10 miles away.
The 13 Freeway connects Oakmore to the Caldecott Tunnel and Seminary junction of the 580.
