Older homes of various styles
Early 20th-century homes line the gently sloping streets of Patten in various styles and states of repair. The median year they were built was 1916, and there is a mix of Victorian homes with pointed roofs and wooden trim, Edwardians with bay windows, timbered Tudor-style homes, Craftsman cottages with full front porches and stucco-clad Mediterranean bungalows. Some have garages, while most do not, and cars line the streets. “There’s a big senior community,” Duncan says. “It’s heavily populated by homeowners who have been there for years, but you’re starting now to see the turnover where the aging population is no longer determinant. There are more families with kids.” The average price is $700,000, and homes are on the market for about 26 days, lower than the 44-day national average. Homes tend to be about 1,300 square feet in size. Prices range from $280,000 to $800,000, depending on size and the extent of renovations. An occasional fully remodeled historic home around 2,000 square feet may bring over $1 million.Green space is mainly outside the neighborhood
