Centralized neighborhood along the Ogden River
Not far from the base of the Wasatch Mountains, Canyon Road is a residential neighborhood about 2 miles north of downtown Ogden that sits along the Ogden River. “Canyon Road has gotten a lot nicer over the last 10 to 15 years,” says Real Estate Agent Adam Speth with RE/MAX Associates, who has over 20 years of experience. “A lot of younger people are moving there because of the low prices.” Its proximity to shopping and dining plus its outdoor amenities add convenience and excitement to the well-balanced suburban landscape.

Single and multi-family housing options
Grassy lawns complement Canyon Road’s wide variety of homes and mature trees. Properties west of Monroe Boulevard sit on gridded streets and are smaller than homes on the east side. Traditional single-story homes and bungalows built in the 1920s to 1950s are common, spanning 800 to 1,800 square feet and priced at $250,000 to $400,000. Brick ranch-style homes go for similar prices as well.
East of Monroe, on either side of Harrison Boulevard, the roads are more looped with cul-de-sacs. Mid-century split-level homes are popular, spanning 2,000 to 2,500 square feet and costing $500,000 to $650,000. The area also has several different multi-family communities. Townhouses built in the early 2000s to 2020s are multi-story and come with detached carports. These units range from 1,000 to 2,000 square feet and are priced between $250,000 and $425,000. Contemporary condos built in the 1970s and 1980s go for $200,000 to $275,000. Most of these complexes have amenities such as clubhouses, fitness centers and pools.

Green spaces along the Ogden River
The Ogden River flows along the entire southern edge of Canyon Road, along a vast parkway system. Multi-use trails follow the river and provide an outlet for running, biking and fishing. Lorin Farr Park is one of many green spaces along the parkway. It has a public swimming pool, a playground area with picnic tables and a skate park. A quick walk away is the Spencer Fox Eccles Pioneer Stadium, which hosts derbies and rodeos throughout the year. The Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo is its main event, held every year on July 24th to celebrate the city’s founders.
Other nearby green spaces include Big-Dee Sports Park, with large open fields, and the Ogden Botanical Gardens. Maintained by Utah State University, the gardens grow everything from perennials and roses to vegetable plants and shrubbery.

Prehistoric parks and downtown attractions
Close to the neighborhood’s southern tip, Ogden’s George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park provides a place to learn about history, science and culture. “Utah is where dinosaur paleontology in the west began, and we try to uphold that,” says Jeff Bond, education director for the park. There are over 100 sculptures of life-size prehistoric animals throughout the park, plus an indoor museum with fossils and gemstones. Downtown Ogden is 2 miles away with more attractions. Locals can watch the Ogden Raptors baseball team play at Linquist Field, or catch a show at Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

12th Street shopping and dining
While most of the neighborhood is residential, Canyon Road has a handful of standalone local restaurants. Prairie Schooner Steakhouse is a fine dining establishment with an old-western theme. Patrons can enjoy surf and turf at covered wagon-inspired booths. There’s also No Manches Way, a traditional Mexican restaurant. Smith’s is the neighborhood grocery store on Harrison Boulevard. Additionally, the intersection of 12th Street and Washington Boulevard has several other shopping and dining options. Maple Express serves authentic Chinese cuisine, while Black Bear Diner specializes in comfort food. Fast food choices include Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A and McDonald’s, among others. There are also Walgreens, OfficeMax and Natural Grocers.
