A convenient location and accessible price points
Situated just a stone's throw away from downtown Omaha is Columbus Park, a mixed-use neighborhood known for its convenient location. What's particularly attractive about this community is that residents can enjoy easy access to plenty of nearby attractions without paying a high price. In fact, properties here, which typically date back to the early 20th century, reflect a housing market that is, on average, cheaper than most other Omaha neighborhoods. While price points and location are the two main aspects that draw people in, the community also boasts a couple of amenities within its borders. Popular eateries like Malara's Italian Restaurant make it so that residents don't even have to leave their community to enjoy food out, and neighborhood parks offer plenty of space for locals wanting to practice their sports or just enjoy some time outside. With Interstate 480 running at the neighborhood's western edge, locals can enjoy a convenient residential lifestyle with easy access to surrounding communities.

Turn-of-the-century homes on hills
Lining hilly streets are an array of non-HOA single-family dwellings that reflect classic midwestern turn-of-the-century architectural styles, including bungalows and Foursquares. Small single-story cottages are quite common in the community, and the neighborhood also has some townhouses, condos and apartment complexes. Prices for homes here typically range from $75,000 to around $300,000, with the median single-family price settling at $133,555. Properties under the $100,000 price point are often ones in need of renovation. As with most early 20th-century homes, older residences here don't usually have garages, so many people park on the streets. Since many of these homes sit atop hills, staircases that bisect grassy lawns to accommodate the terrain are common. Homes here sell fast, after an average of 10 days, but most residents rent their properties. The community features tree-lined sidewalks, and similar to many other urban neighborhoods, Columbus Park has a relatively active sound score.

Next to the small green space is the Subby Anzaldo Columbus Park Community Center, where locals can hit the gym. For more sports facilities, people can head to James F. Lynch Park, a popular spot for skateboarders wanting to practice their tricks. Columbus Park is also near other recreational attractions, including the Field Club of Omaha. Members can enjoy the 18-hole golf course or spend their day swimming in the pool in the summer. Those wanting public pool access can check out the 58-acre Hanscom Park, which offers many other amenities, including paths popular among joggers. Also nearby is Turner Park, which is home to events like Jazz on the Green. ''You grab chairs and can go with a group of friends to listen to music, eat and have fun," says Zulma Erasco, a Realtor with NP Dodge Real Estate who works all throughout Omaha. For some family fun, residents enjoy their proximity to Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium and Omaha Children's Museum.

Here, dishes from whole fish served with plantains to chicken feet and empanadas fill the menu, giving patrons a diverse range of options. For pastries and bread, locals will enjoy their proximity to the International Bakery. "The bread is so good. You can not find a lot of good bread in Omaha," Erasco says. For groceries, residents can shop at the nearby Supermercado Nuestra Familia.
