Most homes in the neighborhood sell between $100,000 and $225,000. Many are bungalows or ranch-style houses, though there are larger Craftsman and American Foursquare styles in the neighborhood. Lots are spaced apart with ample yard space. Most homes offer off-street parking, and many of the ranch homes have garages. A main draw for prospective buyers is the neighborhood’s affordability relative to other parts of Omaha, appealing to first-time homebuyers. “Eighty-five percent of what I do in that area is for people buying real property for the first time in their life,” says Milt Schnieder, an associate broker with Nebraska Realty.Community programs and outdoor activities
Residents can enjoy open gym periods, compete in the pickleball league, or attend arts and crafts workshops and a summer camp for kids at Adams Park Community Center, located along the neighborhoods southeast border. Seniors receive a variety of free or low-cost benefits, including gym space and a meal service. Across the neighborhood, anglers fish in the popular Fontenelle Park lagoon while kids enjoy cooling off at the sprayground on hot days and walkers roam the series of trails. The smaller Spaulding Park offers a playground and baseball diamond.Magnet schools offer specific learning paths

Monroe Middle scores a C-minus as well, while two magnet high schools, North High and Benson High, both earn B-minus grades. North High specializes in STEM, while Benson’s focus is on career academies, in which students elect an area of focus such as health professions, business & entrepreneurship or design and construction.Civil rights legacies reverberate today
For history buffs and civil rights enthusiasts, the Malcolm X Memorial Foundation hosts an annual birthday celebration for the civil rights icon. Residents can also check out the Black August Vendor Expo, get their hands dirty with the Betty Shabazz Community Garden, or learn more via their lecture series.Near downtown with public transit options
Druid Hill lies about 3 miles northwest of the city center. Bus routes crisscross the neighborhood, along Bedford Avenue, Paxton Boulevard and John A Creighton Boulevard, among others. Epley Airfield, the Omaha airport, is 4 miles away. “The historic Belt Line Railway ran through the Druid Hill neighborhood. It is currently being redeveloped as a pedestrian and bike path by the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District and will be a great amenity to the area,” says Fletcher Sasse.Southern comfort food at local restaurants
For those seeking wide dining and shopping options, downtown Omaha is close by, but Druid Hill is home to several local favorites. Southern and Hispanic comfort food stars at Southern Spoon. Barbecue lovers enjoy Jim’s Rib Haven a few blocks north. Commuters can swing through Scooter’s Coffee, a popular local chain of drive-through coffee stands, while those who prefer a leisurely latte can head just south to Hardy’s Coffee Company. For groceries, people shop at neighborhood convenience store K-N-J Grocery and nearby Aldi.
