The E R Danner neighborhood was named after a Nebraska State Senator
The area that's now E R Danner was originally “Kountze Place,” a neighborhood that was developed in the 1880s as an upscale streetcar suburb. It was home to the wildly popular 1898 Trans-Mississippi Exposition and the 1898 Greater America Exposition. Many historic homes, schools and churches were built during this time, and a few still stand today. In 1970, the neighborhood was renamed “E R Danner” after the well-respected Omaha native and nationally regarded African-American Nebraska State Senator who dedicated his life to social change. “With its unique history and its great location near Carter Lake, E R Danner has been a consistently popular place to live,” says Tina Sempeck, Realtor with eXp Realty. E R Danner is sought after by those looking to live close to downtown Omaha in a classic turn-of-the-20th-century home.

From bungalows to Foursquares and Arts and Crafts architecture
“Many families have lived here for generations, and they tend to hang on to their homes. The reason for that is because they’re well-built, and they’re architecturally impressive. You’ll see lots of bungalows, cottages and incredibly well-maintained American Foursquares,” Sempeck says. A beautifully remodeled one-and-a-half story Arts and Crafts style bungalow with a new roof and a spacious front porch was recently listed for $184,900. A classic Foursquare from 1907 with three bedrooms and 1,329 square feet recently sold for $175,000.
