Pacific Meadows has top-rated schools and a multiuse trail
Pacific Meadows is a tiny residential neighborhood tucked against the West Papillion Creek in west Omaha. Top-rated schools are the main draw for families, and outdoor enthusiasts appreciate having access to the West Papio Trail, which runs alongside the creek. Another perk: The Dodge Street thoroughfare forms the neighborhood’s northern border and leads to Downtown Omaha, about 13 miles away.
The neighborhood offers a secluded feel, but Dodge Street makes it easy to get around Omaha.
The small Pacific Meadows neighborhood is known for its large homes and quiet cul-de-sacs.

The Millard Public Schools district offers diverse learning options
“Pacific Meadows . . . that’s Millard Schools, so that’s sought-after,” says Milt Schneider an associate broker with Nebraska Realty who has over 10 years of local experience. The district offers AP classes and early college programs, and its high school athletes have won numerous NSAA state championships, including the Class A football title in November 2025. Community partnerships allow kids to expand their learning beyond the classroom, whether they’re interested in plumbing, automotive work, firefighting, zoology or criminal justice.
Young students can attend Aldrich Elementary, just across Dodge Street.

New Traditional homes are built for large families
Stylish New Traditional homes with gabled roofs, dormer windows and attached garages line the residential streets and cul-de-sacs. Houses typically have three to five bedrooms and over 2,500 square feet of living space, and some have in-ground pools in the backyard. “They are bigger homes — 1970 to 1990 builds,” Schneider says. Most properties include mature trees and paved driveways, some with basketball hoops. Sidewalks make it easy to stroll to the neighbor’s house, and you can often see kids riding their bikes in the street. Although the creek floods sometimes, houses aren’t close enough to be affected. If you live near Dodge Street, you might hear some traffic noise from time to time.
Most Pacific Meadows homes feature two-car garages and unique touches.
Large homes on cul-de-sacs feature beautiful landscaping and private yards.

Piedmont Wycliffe $325,000
Greenfields $385,000
Bent Creek $405,000
Fountain Hills-Pacific Meadows$417,000
Candlewood $422,500

Strolling, jogging or walking the dog on the West Papio Trail
The West Papio Trail and the surrounding green space take up most of the neighborhood’s western side. Motor vehicles are prohibited on the paved path, and leashed dogs are welcome. “That’s obviously a big draw if you have a dog,” Schneider says. The trail stretches for miles north and south of the neighborhood and passes through multiple parks, including Pacific Meadows Park, which is tucked into a field off South 159th Avenue. While you’re there, you can turn the kids loose on the playground or have a game of basketball, tennis or soccer.
Residents of Pacific Meadows enjoy miles of accessible trails right outside their doors.

An active and engaged family-friendly community
The trail does more than give people a place to exercise — it helps tie the community together. Residents gather to plant flowers and keep the outdoor spaces looking nice, and the neighborhood organization plans Easter egg hunts and other seasonal events. Because of the larger homes and highly regarded school district, the vibe here is family-friendly. It’s a good choice if you have active kids and want to engage with your neighbors on the regular.
Shopping and dining at Pepperwood Village and Greenfields Plaza
There are a couple of shopping centers nearby: Pepperwood Village and Greenfields Plaza. That means these stores and restaurants are within easy reach:
Starbucks for morning pick-me-ups
Baker’s for groceries and gas
HUB, a grilling supply store (the name is an acronym for “Helping U BBQ”)
Texas Roadhouse, a popular chain specializing in steak and Southwestern cuisine
Omaha Tap House, where you can watch the game over beer and bloody marys

You’ll need a car to get around Omaha from Pacific Meadows
The city’s Metro bus routes don’t run this far west, but most people in Omaha drive anyway. The trip downtown takes about 25 minutes, and the 10-mile trip to the University of Nebraska Medical Center takes 20 minutes. “The bigger employers would be medical, government, the city — things like that,” Schneider says.
Dodge Street runs on the north side of Pacific Meadows, allowing easy access to all of Omaha.
