Stately and spacious architectural variety
Regency homes display wide architectural variety. Some New Traditional homes sport Victorian and Tudor features such as turrets, arched doorways, and steep gabled roofs. Other homes blend midcentury modern elements like brick facades and deep overhangs with suburban spaciousness and garages. Neo-Colonial styles are also popular, highlighted by classic symmetry and shuttered windows. Townhomes are also an option. Spacious lawns are common, even with the large homes: “Most of the lots are half acre or above,” says Schlafman. Prices reflect the size and flourishes of the properties, ranging from about $500,000 to $700,000 for townhomes and between $1 million and $1.5 million for the larger, more decorative houses.Membership amenities and green spaces
Regency Park, popular with dog-walkers, is tucked within the neighborhood. RHA members have access to the Regency Clubhouse on the shore of 25-acre Regency Lake, and to amenities such as a swimming pool and tennis and pickleball courts. Towl Park, with a fishing pond, playground, and trails sits against private Happy Hollows Golf Course. For walkers and bikers, the Big Papio Trail runs diagonally for 10 miles through Omaha and is easily accessible from Regency.Education takes flight at Burke High School
Most of Regency is part of Omaha Public Schools , rated a C-plus on Niche. Elementary students can attend Crestridge Magnet Center, which earns a C-minus. Beveridge Magnet Middle scores a C. Burke High School, which earns a B-minus, includes focus areas like air and space, communications, and marketing, business and analytics. The air and space program includes a full-motion flight simulator, and students are building a RV-12 plane. A small part of the neighborhood’s southeast corner is zoned for the Westside Community Schools instead of OPS. These students can attend Carl A. Swanson Elementary, rated an A by Niche, Westside Middle, which also earns an A and Westside High, which scores an A-minus. Private elementary school options include Concordia Academy, St. Robert Bellarmine School, and Christ is King School, a K-8.Regular member events and nearby fun
The Regency HOA hosts weekly games of bridge and mahjong, summer grill nights, and special events such as a Fourth of July party, Oktoberfest celebration and luau. “Our luau featured fire dancers,” says Homan. “The Regency HOA sends out emails all the time to update residents living there on events,” says Lucy Schlafman, a real estate agent with BHHS Ambassador Real Estate. Across Regency Lake, Blue Sky Bar and Patio hosts trivia nights and live music, and even offers free mini bowling during University of Nebraska football games.Major thoroughfares surround the area
The neighborhood is bounded by Interstate 680 and West Dodge Street, both major Omaha thoroughfares. Downtown Omaha is under 8 miles away, about 20 minutes with traffic. The neighborhood itself is highly walkable with well-maintained sidewalks.High-end shopping and dining
Regency Shopping Center sits squarely in the neighborhood. Borsheim’s sells luxury jewelry, and Valo Wellness Spa provides relaxing services like massage, skin care treatments and a tea bar. Dining favorites include Kinaara Indian Cuisine, also at Regency Shopping Center, and Twisted Cork Bistro, a Seattle transplant that offers a taste of the Pacific Northwest in the Great Plains. Nearby is Brother Sebastien’s Steakhouse where the servers dress as monks and the steaks are considered some of Omaha’s best. Westroads Mall, the largest in Nebraska, lies just north of Regency across Dodge Street. “Grocery shopping is at our front door,” Homan says, with both Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s within a mile of the clubhouse.
