West Omaha community along Interstate 80
Located about 10 miles west of downtown Omaha, Westgate offers an inventory of midcentury homes in a convenient location. Before the formation of the neighborhood, the land at 78th & West Center was home to an emergency hospital in a health camp in the early 1900s that was destroyed in the tornado of 1975. That was then cleared for Pipal Park, the first inclusive park still a hub in the neighborhood. “Westgate is a popular neighborhood, convenient to everything you need,” says Jenne Vandeveer, a Realtor with Keller Williams, who has been in the market for over a decade. “You are just above Interstate 80. There are many nearby restaurants and shopping centers and residents like the neighborhood pool.”

Midcentury homes under old-growth trees
Tall, old-growth trees shade steep, winding streets with tight sidewalks. Perched on rectangular lots are a collection of ranch homes and split-levels with garages. Prices range around $250,000 for a four-bedroom ranch, while a three-bedroom split level will cost more than $315,000. “It’s a great neighborhood for first-time buyers. Most homes are midcentury designed, and you get a decent-sized lot. I just sold a home here, and there was much interest in it,” Vandeveer says.
