West Omaha homebuyers are clearly realizing the resurging popularity of midcentury homes. Not only are these classic favorites roomier than one might expect, but in neighborhoods like Wiesman/North Oaks they frequently come to market well-maintained or extensively renovated. As Andrea Lane, Realtor with BHHS Ambassador Real Estate says, “With the many cul-de-sacs, quiet green space, nicely landscaped yards and these attractively priced homes, it’s no wonder properties move fast in Wiesman/North Oaks.” Split-levels, multi-level, raised ranch and ranch-style homes are accented with mature hardwood trees, sidewalks and neat, tidy landscaped yards. You’ll find homes here from $220,000 to $350,000. Home sizes range from 1,100 to over 2,600 square feet, depending on the number of levels and additions. Lane also recommends its ideal location. “The community is ideal because it’s close to schools, shopping and restaurants and you can easily jump on I-680 to get to downtown, work or wherever you need to go.”

Masters Elementary teaches children in pre-K through fifth grade and offers a Gifted and Talented program. Morton Magnet Middle offers sixth through eighth grades. They will soon be embarking on an expansive renovation adding thirteen classrooms, a 100-person meeting space, and significant structural and technical updates. Omaha Northwest Magnet High offers more than 40 honors programs and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. North Oaks Park is a small pocket park with a playground, a baseball field, walking paths and open green space. If you’re a golfer, you’ll enjoy living right next door to Knolls Golf Course.

Realtor Lane recommends local dining options, as well. “I really love the restaurant scene here, too. You’re a short drive to several great places and when you’re busy, many offer takeout, which makes life that much easier.” Legends Patio Bar & Grill receives great reviews for its pizza, wraps and burgers. Its 30 flat-screen TV’s are ready when you want to catch your favorite team. Realtor Lane also recommends a personal favorite, "If you love Italian food you cannot miss Mangia Italiana. They offer catering and takeout, and, because I’m Italian, when I say ‘They meet the grade!’ that’s high praise.” They feature a different homemade soup every day of the week, and their ever-changing desserts are hard to resist. Try their tiramisu or the limoncello cake.

For trendy women’s clothes, accessories and gifts, check out Four Sisters Boutique. Nebraska fans covet their seasonal line of sweatshirts and t-shirts that boast loyalty to the 37th state and to the Huskers. Westroads Mall at 100th and Dodge Street is the biggest mall in Nebraska and despite the pandemic of 2020, it is still thriving. Some of its big brands include The Container Store, DSW, H&M, and Forever 21. For groceries, you’ll find Walmart Supercenter close by on 99th Street. Hy-Vee at 108th Street offers a bakery, floral department, pharmacy, and local delivery. When you’re headed to work, downtown or the airport, you’ll love being less than a two-minute drive to Interstate 680, which quickly connects to I-64 and I-80.

Assorted midcentury home styles and an unbeatably convenient location are just a few of the benefits that continue to draw homebuyers to quiet, well-loved Wiesman/North Oaks.
