Home to the 85 acre Canyon Park Technology Center where innovation comes to life, the neighborhood , back in 1979, Windsor made its mark on Utah as the birthplace of Word Perfect, and many Utah residents would argue this area is also the origin of Silicon Slopes. Several tech companies have made Windsor its home in the decades following Word Perfect’s historic success – bringing thousand of new houses and neighbors along with it. As a city Orem is home to more than 5,000 businesses and has been recognized by the Miliken Institute as one of the top 20 cities to start a business and sits at the footsteps of the ever growing Utah Valley University and its 75,0000 students.

Colorful Ramblers and newer builds
Most of Windsor is made up of Ranch style homes between $500,000 and $700,000 on tree lined streets. Most yards have driveways while porches and privacy fences are also common. Emerie Swallow of Summit Realty Inc. says these homes are often remodeled by new owners. “When these homes sell, it’s usually because someone who’s lived there for 25-30 years is now downsizing,” says Brooks. “Younger families will often move in and remodel the house to look brand new; it’s like the home you see on the outside is completely different from what you see inside.” Heading east near Canyon Park Tech Center, newer builds are available, most falling between $700,000 and $1 million. The designs are similar but impressive landscaping gives residents a chance to make their home their own.
