Lake Eola Heights
Brick roads lined with Craftsman bungalows and Colonial estates
Historic brick streets crisscross the community, fringed by wide sidewalks and elegant homes. “The neighborhood’s mostly Craftsman, but some new homes are being built too,” says Dorman. Much of the neighborhood was built in the early 20th century, a period reflected by the community’s abundance of Craftsman-style homes. This design features deep, low-pitched roofing, large windows, and open floor plans that emphasize simplicity in appearance and unpretentious interiors. The community also features several Colonial-revival houses and ornate Mediterranean and frame vernacular homes. Homebuyers also have a range of multi-story condominium complexes featuring in-house fitness centers and views of Lake Eola. Prices depend mainly on the size and style of the home. Condo prices can range from $200,000 to $450,000. Alternatively, a modest Craftsman bungalow costs around $400,000, while larger houses cost as much as $1.0 million.Walking around Lake Eola Park and going to the YMCA gym
Residents can easily walk or bike to local parks. Lake Eola Park hosts a bevy of special events out of the Walt Disney Amphitheater and features an iconic concrete fountain, swan-shaped paddleboats available to rent and a paved walkway encircling the lake. East down Amelia Street is the Orlando YMCA, home to outdoor pools and indoor facilities with gym equipment and daycare programs for local kids. To the north are the Gaston Edwards and Lake Ivanhoe Parks, both offering opportunities for anglers to cast out fishing lines and visitors to soak up lake views while walking its trails.Locals can walk to nearby general stores and retail districts
Local markets and delis are just a short walk down the street. Eola General Store is a local market and deli offering a range of bottled wines, hot beverages, sandwiches, cheese and charcuterie boards. Chic commercial districts like Thorton Park are just across the street from Lake Eola. Patrons enjoy burgers in a space surrounded by eclectic graffiti art at Graffiti Junktion. The Stubborn Mule is another contemporary Thorton Park venue offering elevated American fare.Events near Lake Eola throughout the year
Lake Eola is the center of Downtown Orlando. Local Realtor David Dorman says, “You can walk around the entire lake, plus there’s events all throughout the year. They do a drone show on Christmas, craft fairs on weekends, and the Orlando Pride Parade comes through every year.” There is also the Orlando Farmers Market, where vendors offer a diverse selection of plants, seasonal produce, pet clothing and treats, freshly made foods and arts and crafts. Performing arts venues like the Abbey and the Mezz host concerts and stage musical readings and can be rented for weddings or private parties. Less than a mile away is the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, which hosts touring Broadway productions annually.Top marks from Orange County Schools

Three miles to the east is the Orlando Executive Airport, and 20 miles to the east is the Orlando International Airport.Getting around downtown
The Central Business District is a very walkable half a mile from most area homes. The walkability contributes massively to Lake Eola Heights’ community spirit. “When you have really good walkability, neighbors tend to know each other really well,” says local Realtor David Dorman. People do wine walks on Wednesdays; they walk to parks; that’s just what people do around here.” Along with that walkability, neighbors are a short distance from major freeways like the I-4 Express and the East-West Expressway.
