Students in West Ormond Beach can attend Volusia County Schools, a district with an overall B grade from Niche. They can start at the B-plus-rated Tomoka Elementary before continuing to the B-minus-rated David C. Hinson Sr. Middle School, then attend either the B-plus-rated Seabreeze High or the B-minus-rated Mainland High. Both high schools offer dual enrollment, career and technical education and the opportunity to earn the Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) Diploma. The neighborhood is also home to Esformes Hebrew Academy. This private Jewish school serves students from preschool through eighth grade.

Locals come together for annual parades
"The community is very active, and we are known for our annual Home for the Holidays Parade, but there are parades for every season," Deininger says. The annual Home for the Holidays Parade features a different theme each year and is followed by a tree lighting ceremony. Another parade the area's known for is the Volusia Region Antique Automobile Club of America's Annual Gaslight Parade, which features exclusively antique vehicles.
Transit options include Votran and nearby highways
The Votran bus system covers all of Volusia County and provides a public transportation option; however, most locals tend to drive. "It's a walking and driving community," Deininger says. Interstate 95 and Highway 40 intersect in West Ormond Beach, offering routes in and out of the community.
