What Osseo lacks in size, it makes up for in spirit. The community covers an area of less than a square mile, but it has roughly 2,600 residents and more amenities than many places of its size. Restaurants and businesses line Central Avenue, community events bring people together, and there are several nearby green spaces to check out, including the sprawling Elm Creek Park Reserve. Area students attend a highly rated school district. For a taste of city life, people can make the close to 15-mile drive to downtown Minneapolis.

An easy commute to downtown Minneapolis
U.S. Highway 169 borders Osseo to the east and connects with Interstate 94. Downtown Minneapolis is about 15 miles away, a drive that can take 20 to 40 minutes depending on the time of day. Metro Transit bus route 725 makes stops along Central Avenue and can take riders east toward Blaine, but not to Minneapolis.
You can play sports or explore hiking and biking trails
Residents have ample room to relax and play in the city’s green spaces. Across from city hall, Henry J. Boerboom Veterans Memorial Park features landscaped grounds with picnic tables and a bandshell that hosts summer concerts and movie screenings. Sipe Park provides a playground, tennis courts and a baseball and softball diamond. Around 3 miles away in Maple Grove, Elm Creek Park Reserve spans nearly 5,000 acres and provides more than 20 miles of hiking and biking trails, a swimming pond, an archery range, a disc golf course, a pet area and a nature center. Each winter, the park opens its tubing, skiing and snowboarding hills, plus cross-country skiing trails.

Summers are dominated by music, movies and a market
The community comes together to celebrate several events throughout the year. The weekly Osseo Farmers Market runs on Tuesdays from July through September, with vendors selling produce and other goods. It’s paired with the Music & Movies in the Park series, which features live bands and a movie screening at dusk. Osseo Lions Roar is a multi-day fall festival highlighted by a parade down Central Avenue. The weekend also brings live music, craft vendors, family-friendly activities, a beer garden and an ice cream social. Each summer, the Yellow Tree Theatre hosts its Playwright Festival, which celebrates the work of various playwrights through live performances and discussions.
