Melody Ranch is comprised of four communities, including the five-star hotel Parker Palm Springs, which was formerly California’s first Holiday Inn. The gated Seven Lakes Golf & Country Club features 1960s and 1970s midcentury modern homes centered around an 18-hole golf course, with pools and recreation venues scattered throughout. “It’s a wonderful country club community with single-family condos,” Lavin says. “But the HOA is very, very high, which can be prohibitive for some homeowners.” The Oasis Resort has Spanish-style condominiums, while Canyon Sands has residences spread across 33-acres of land. Both associations also have amenities such as swimming pools and tennis or pickleball courts. Homes in Seven Lakes usually start at around $550,000, and those with panoramic views of the golf course or recently remodeled units can top at $1.6 million. Residences in other communities are typically between $350,000 and $550,000. Homeowners may be cautioned that extreme heat in the area can cause property damage, such as foundation cracks or premature material aging. Grocery options include Vons, Ralphs and Jensen's Finest Foods. Sette Food + Drink, the restaurant at Seven Lakes, offers classic American fare. located inside the Parker Palm Springs Hotel, Norma’s serves brunch and comfort eats, while Mister Parker’s is a modern restaurant with New American and French fare. Target and Trader Joe’s are just east of the area. Shoppers can also head about 5 miles west to Downtown Palm Springs, which is dotted with fashionable boutiques, art galleries and established restaurants such as Farm, a farm-to-table eatery with a trendy setting.
