Adobe Meadow-Meadow Park
Neighborhood in Palo Alto, California
Santa Clara County 94303
Modest, midcentury homes on tree-lined streets
Homes in the neighborhood were largely built out during the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s, after its large rural properties were split up in favor of small, suburban lots. Midcentury modern homes and ranch styles are the most common home designs, and many have been fully renovated and upgraded to bring them into the 21st century, although some are being torn down entirely and replaced with brand-new luxury homes. Prices range from around $3 million to $5.5 million, with new homes typically selling for top dollar. Those looking for something more affordable might consider a townhome, which sell for around $1.7 million to $2 million. “Palo Alto has some of the highest prices per square foot in the Bay Area. Even higher than Atherton. And that’s really driven by the schools and because of its central location,” says Realtor Xin Jiang of Compass Real Estate, who has been working in Palo Alto for about a decade.Plenty of parks and outdoor activities within walking distance
Ramos Park, at the center of the neighborhood, is where the community gets out and enjoys the sunshine. It has a playground; shady stands of trees; and a big, grassy meadow for playing and picnicking. A few blocks away is Mitchell Park, one of the largest in the city. At 21 acres, it has a dog park, ballfields, soccer fields, tennis courts, a playground and splash pads. Walking and biking paths wind between the fields, trees and meadows, making it an ideal spot to get some fresh air. Oshman Family Jewish Community Center is also in the neighborhood. Anyone can join the center to use its indoor gym and swimming pool.Adobe Meadow-Meadow Park is zoned for some of California’s top public schools
Students in the neighborhood attend some of the state’s top-rated public schools. It’s a major draw for parents raising young families, contributing to the area’s increasingly high real estate prices. The neighborhood is zoned for Fairmeadow Elementary School, Jane Lathrop Stanford Middle School and Henry M. Gunn High School, all of which get A-plus ratings from Niche. The high school is also rated by Niche as the fourth best in California for college prep. Fairmeadow Elementary has also earned its fair share of accolades — it’s ranked the 35th-best elementary school in the state.Commuting is eased by U.S. 101 and Caltrain
Adobe Meadow-Meadow Park is ideally placed for commuting. It sits just west of U.S. Route 101, also known as the Bayshore Freeway, a major corridor that runs along the side of the Bay from San Jose to San Francisco. Downtown San Jose is about 15 miles south, and downtown San Francisco is about 35 miles north. It’s also about a mile from two Caltrain stations, the commuter train that runs from downtown San Francisco to south of San Jose. The Stanford University Medical Center, one of the state’s top-rated teaching hospitals, is about 4 miles away.Shopping and dining are right around the corner
The nearest shopping and dining options are just a mile away at Charleston Plaza, a shopping strip that borders the Bayshore Freeway. There, residents can pick up groceries at Costco, stop off for pet supplies at PetSmart or take away dinner from L&L Hawaiian Barbecue. The most popular destinations, however, are a few miles north at Stanford Shopping Center and downtown Palo Alto. Upscale apparel shops, high-end eateries, diverse cuisine, farmers markets and nightlife are abundant, bringing in people from all over Silicon Valley.
