Every September, the Peoria Art Guild Fine Art Fair fills the downtown riverfront with booths from local artists. More grocery stores are available at Glen Hollow, about 2 miles north, not far from Avanti’s Peoria, which has been serving Italian entrees and sandwiches for over 45 years. Northwoods Mall has retailers like JCPenney and a few more restaurants. Locals say Peoria’s dining scene is always changing. “We have several chefs who are amazing,” Milburn says. “One worked at one of the top Michelin-star restaurants." Josh Lanning, a popular chef and Peoria native, runs a popup called BrightBelly that stops all over the city.
