Becker Park is just across Forrest Hill Avenue from Wardcliffe. It offers a playground, skatepark and basketball courts within walking distance of homes. Newman Golf Course is one of Peoria’s public greens, managed by the city’s park district. At Bradley Park, the 140 acres feature a disc golf course, dog park, tennis courts, baseball fields and a walking path over Dry Run Creek.

Getting to Peoria's parks and downtown district
Sterling Avenue links the neighborhood with the rest of Peoria, from the shopping centers and parks to downtown Peoria, about 4 miles away from Wardcliffe. Buses also line this thoroughfare. OSF Forest Park is about 3.5 miles away, located along the way to downtown. Forrest Hill Avenue connects the neighborhood with Interstate 74, though the neighborhood is far enough that it doesn’t get the noise from the traffic. “We are located about halfway between Chicago and St. Louis,” says longtime Peoria resident and Realtor Rhonda Milburn with Keller Williams Premier Realty. “You can get your Gucci without having to get it online, but you can live in Peoria, where the cost of living is lower.” General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport is about 7 miles away.
Wardcliffe students attend Peoria's public schools
Elementary school students head to Dr. Maude A. Sanders Primary School for kindergarten through fourth grade. It and Sterling Middle School receive C-minus rankings from Niche. C-rate Peoria High School offers various sports for its athletes, from football and basketball to golf, swimming and flag football.

Just up Sterling Avenue, the Kroger in Sterling Bazaar is about half a mile from Wardcliffe. Also here, Louie Legends is a casual, local fast food and wings spot. On the eastern side of the interstate, River Kitty Café serves coffee and tea while allowing people to play with adoptable cats. For a more fine-dining experience, Connected’s menu features entrees like seafood and veal. Walmart and Aldi are also on this side of the interstate, about 1.5 miles from Wardcliffe.

Peoria's music scene and seasonal farmers market
From May to September, people can walk along the river and explore the local produce and baked goods at the Peoria Area Farmers Market. For over 20 years, Peoria musicians have performed at the Peoria Bach Festival on the first week in June. This is just one part of the city’s music scene. “Peoria has three symphony orchestras and a ballet. The Peoria Symphony still plays some of its concerts at the Peoria Civic Center and at some of the churches around the area,” says real estate agent Dale Jorgenson with Jim Maloof Realtor, who also used to play cello for the symphony.
The Peoria Municipal Band consists of over 30 classically-trained professional Musicians.
The annual Festa Picnic features local Italian-American musicians.
