Twin homes in walking distance to local shops and public spaces
For folks looking for all the diverse cuisine and community spaces of University City, but at a lower cost, “Haddington is the place that comes next,” says Leron Grossman, a local real estate broker at Victory Real Estate, LLC. Well-maintained and affordable rowhomes are just a short walk from corner stores, community spaces and excellent Philadelphia schools. The community is located along the same Southeastern Philadelphia Transportation Authority line as University City, so locals can quickly get around the city from this West Philadelphia perch.

Affordable twin and row homes in Haddington
Every day locals walk down wide sidewalks lined with small businesses, intermingled with rows of Haddington’s early 20th century residences. The local real estate market predominantly features row and twin houses with design touches like bay windows and covered front porches. Home prices may vary depending on proximity to commercial thoroughfares. Still, the affordability here is undeniable, according to local realtor Leron Grossman. “It’s rare to find something around $100,000 in Philadelphia,” Grossman says. For example, it is common to find a three-bedroom row house for $73,000 or a two-bedroom twin for $98,000, both sold in the last three years. Prices tend to increase the closer homes are to Market Street and Vine Street, ranging as high as $190,000 for a four-bedroom row house.

The dishes at Hadramout, a local Yemeni restaurant, are regarded by Grossman as “as close to the original thing as I’ve experienced.”

The area is generally nice. People will not bother you as long as you don't bother them, and are genuinely friendly. It is quiet, which is nice on spring days when you need to study. Corner stores sell hot and cold food, and a plethora of household items. Overall, the area is a great spot for one person or a small family.

I am a single fulltime employed person that moved here from nearby working class suburbs in 2016. when i first came here it was a lucky find. there was nearby shopping, close to transit and very quiet most of the time. however after 7 years - post covid, it no longer serves me. a lot of businesses were either shutdown or closed, an increase in crime and my current apt building owners had no problem letting an underground party space take up residence and they often have loud music in the middle of the night. the only good thing about this area still is that there are still some shopping, close to transit to take you to other parts of the city, less crime overall than other parts of the city and the rents are still cheaper than other parts of west philly that's not going to change the fact that for a myriad of reasons i need to move out to someplace at least more feasible to my needs. the problem is, that other neighborhoods that i can still afford are just worse.
