The area is generally nice. People will not bother you as long as you don't bother them, and are genuinely friendly. It is quiet, which is nice on spring days when you need to study. Corner stores sell hot and cold food, and a plethora of household items. Overall, the area is a great spot for one person or a small family.

I am a single fulltime employed person that moved here from nearby working class suburbs in 2016. when i first came here it was a lucky find. there was nearby shopping, close to transit and very quiet most of the time. however after 7 years - post covid, it no longer serves me. a lot of businesses were either shutdown or closed, an increase in crime and my current apt building owners had no problem letting an underground party space take up residence and they often have loud music in the middle of the night. the only good thing about this area still is that there are still some shopping, close to transit to take you to other parts of the city, less crime overall than other parts of the city and the rents are still cheaper than other parts of west philly that's not going to change the fact that for a myriad of reasons i need to move out to someplace at least more feasible to my needs. the problem is, that other neighborhoods that i can still afford are just worse.
