"The number eight hole is one of our best, where you have a waterfall right next to you while teeing off.” Locals can also drive to scenic parks and mountain overlooks all over the neighborhood. Table Rock State Park features more waterfalls along miles of trails, which can take hikers to the top of Table Rock Mountain. “You can watch sunrises there," says Gray, who enjoys hiking up Table Rock. "It’s just a gorgeous spot to hang out and soak in the views.” Those who want to enjoy similar views without the long hike can drive 11 miles up the rough Shooting Range Road to Jumping Off Rock Overlook, offering stunning sights of mountains and the lake below. Long Shoals Wayside Park is another major draw for nature enthusiasts, especially those who don’t mind getting wet. It features large rocks along Little Eastatoe Creek that people use to slide into the water. With miles of trails and picnic tables, hikers can go for a stroll through the woods and bring a snack.

Located at The Rock Golf Club & Resort, the restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining with plenty of entertainment. “On weekends, we’ll have a band come in to perform while you eat,” says Gray. “People can come in to play pool and watch football games on the big projector screen.” For all other shopping and dining needs, residents will drive about 10 miles south to Pickens.
