Incorporation brings growth and infrastructure to town
Pine Level became an incorporated Autauga County town in 2023 and has continued to grow. "If you're in Pine Level, that's basically the same as being in Prattville. The community has always been there. But after the incorporation, Pine Level could receive its own tax revenue to build up the area," says Steven Dillard, an experienced Realtor with RE/MAX Properties who has lived in the region for over 25 years. Autauga County Schools constructed an elementary school in Pine Level several years ago, bringing more residents to the area. "When people come in, they ask about the school system. Pine Level Elementary School is a big attraction," Dillard says. The Central Alabama Electric Cooperative also recently opened its new headquarters off Highway 31.
New homes, large lots and weather risks in Pine Level
Pine Level contains several new constructions in subdivisions such as Alpine Hills, Hummingbird Place and Jackson Crossing. These dwellings are often single-story New Traditional houses with brick exteriors. Roughly half of the homes sold in the area were built after 2020. About 25% of all properties sit on one acre or more. Older residences are typically ranch styles; some lots come with additional outbuildings like barns and workshops. Homes over 2,500 square feet and parcels with several acres can cost between $300,000 and $600,000. Smaller residences range from $175,000 to $375,000. The region has a history of tornadoes and hurricanes that can lead to structural damage.
Pine Level schools earn solid ratings and serve military families
According to Niche, Pine Level Elementary is the second-best elementary school in the county and receives a B rating. The elementary school, which earned a Purple Heart School designation, provides supportive services for military families. Older students attend Marbury Middle and Marbury High, both of which have a B-minus rating. Leaders in the district are discussing plans to build more schools in Pine Level and Prattville.
Nearby camping, parks and river access
Campgrounds are to the north and west of Pine Level. Locals can spend the day at green spaces a few miles from home. Pratt Park has a playground and seasonal splash pad next to Autauga Creek. There's water access for kayaks and canoes behind Prattville City Hall. The waterway is a part of the Alabama Scenic River Trail. Wilderness Park features a forest of giant bamboo stalks and the second-largest Beech tree in the state. Prattville Country Club offers a pool and an 18-hole golf course.
Local parades and Prattville festivals
Pine Level held its first Independence Day Parade and Christmas Parade in 2024. The events took place at the Pine Level Community Center off County Road 40. Locals are close to other gatherings in Autauga County. "Prattville has the Wilson Pickett Music and Arts Festival in April. The Autauga County Fair in September is a big deal that everyone goes to," Dillard says. "The city partners with the Chamber of Commerce for the Main Street Christmas. You can shop at the small businesses and find unique, handmade gifts you won't find at Walmart."
Local businesses are limited but major retailers are close by
Businesses are centered around Highway 31. There's a Piggly Wiggly and a Dollar General available. Pine Level has only a few restaurant options, including El Mariachi and Eliano's Coffee. Residents travel about 10 miles to retail havens such as Prattville Town Center and High Point Town Center. Here, shoppers find a Walmart Supercenter, Target, supermarkets and department stores. The larger city offers a broader range of dining options as well. "Pratt Pub & Oyster Bar has karaoke. They have seafood, steak, oysters and stuff like that. It's definitely good," Dillard says. He also recommends Uncle Mick's Cajun Market & Café.
Within reach of Maxwell Air Force Base and Montgomery
Interstate 65 runs down the western corridor, while Highway 31 leads through the center of Pine Level. Both routes lead directly to Prattville, to the south. Dillard says the proximity to Maxwell Air Force Base is another draw to the growing community. The base and Montgomery's downtown district are about a 20-mile drive from the center of Pine Level.
