The mature trees and landscaping are significant draws and it has really great access to Highway 121."

Homes in Highland Ridge are commonly traditional, multi-level, remodeled structures with brick or stone exteriors. "The homes in Highland Ridge are mostly older," Burgess says. "A lot of the homes here will be fairly, if not fully, remodeled in the next five years,” Burgess says, adding that “most of Plano is $600,000 to $800,000 and up for homes” due in part to the proximity to Plano. All of the neighborhood’s recently-sold homes were built in the 1990s. Lengthy sidewalks leading to soaring front archways are common features of properties here, along with large lots and spacious interiors.
A four-school pipeline for students
Students can begin their educational journeys at Wyatt Elementary School, which is rated an A-plus by Niche and ranks within the service’s top 50 elementary schools in Texas. Enrollment then graduates to C.M. Rice Middle School, located about four minutes southeast of Wyatt Elementary and scoring an A grade with Niche. Jasper High School hosts grades nine and 10 and Plano West Senior High School is the site of 11th and 12th grades, both scoring A-plus ratings with Niche. Plano West Senior High ranks as the 10th-most diverse public high school statewide out of almost 2,000 schools.

Highland Ridge sits less than 20 minutes from four major roadways in each direction. To the north, the Sam Rayburn Tollway and Highway 121 connects areas such as Lewisville and McKinney, while to the south, the President George Bush Turnpike unfolds for over 50 miles and reaches Dallas, Garland and more. To the west, the Dallas North Tollway has stops in Plano, Dallas and Frisco, and to the east Route 75 runs as far north as the Canadian border. The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is about 30 miles southwest.
Unique eateries and local staples
Less than five minutes west, residents can pay a visit to the popular establishment Haywire. Offering a unique, tri-level dining experience, patrons can start off at the first-floor whiskey bar, move on to second-level dining and then cap off the visit with a cocktail on the rooftop patio. Chains like Shake Shack and Cava are also close by, local staples like Lita’s Mexican Grill serve up authentic fare and both the Donut House & Bakery and Glory Macarons offer baked goods. "There's a lot of stuff -- Asian, Greek and Mediterranean fare," Burgess says. "However, being in central Plano, it's not really something that's walkable. It's more driving distance." A Walmart Neighborhood Market location is less than three miles from Highland Ridge down Hedgcoxe Road.

A popular park beside Highland Ridge
Sprawling over nearly 200 acres directly east of Highland Ridge, Russell Creek Park is the area’s primary recreational attraction. "Russell Creek Park is so close to the neighborhood," Burgess says. "It's such a great park and has amazing trails and fields. It's one of the biggest draws and a reason some people move to the area." Visitors can play pickup games on its soccer and baseball fields, find water views at its lake or walk or ride on its trails. Other outdoor activities in the Highland Ridge region include embarking on the Legacy Trail, which runs for about 10 miles close to Plano.

Nearby malls and holiday displays
Just across the Dallas North Tollway, an all-in-one shopping and dining experience can be found at Legacy West.
