Cypress Harbor
Suburban Neighborhood in Pompano Beach, Florida
Broward County 33060
Homes with old Florida charm and ocean access
Cypress Harbor’s HOA-free streets are lined with sidewalks and Mediterranean-inspired houses dating back to the 1960s, many with palm trees and gardens adorning manicured lawns. Several of these homes have undergone extensive renovations, combining the charm of old Florida with the luxury of new or improved amenities. Earth-toned 1,500- to 2,500-square-foot ranch houses with stucco exteriors and terracotta roofs typically sell for between $900,000 and $1.5 million. More inland homes may sit at the lower price point, while properties with boat docks on the canal trend higher.Cozy, local eats at Brewfish and Chez
Residents frequent their local watering hole, Brewfish Bar and Grill. This cozy beach hut is a waterfront bar with hearty seafood dishes and refreshing brews. Homey and friendly, Chez Café doubles as a bakery-bistro with breakfast options and savory lunch specials to pair with coffee. For home cooking and daily essentials, there are Publix grocers at Pine Lake Plaza a mile north and Pompano Plaza a mile east.
Pompano Beach CRA developments
The waterfront canal properties have direct access to the ocean, but two bridges around Cypress Harbor limit the height of the boats that can get in and out. "If it weren’t for the low McNab Road Bridge, folks could get a bigger boat out to the ocean," says Jon Kroll, a local Broker and owner of Kroll Realty. "The area is currently less expensive than neighborhoods to the east without fixed bridges, but with everything the city has been doing to redevelop around the area, we're going to see prices go up." A recent project to update the McNab Road Bridge for both aesthetic purposes and functionality is underway.Pine Crest and Broward Co. Public schools
Cypress Harbor is served by Broward County Public Schools, which Niche ranks as the No. 3 best school district in Miami. There are public and private options nearby, the private and A-plus graded Pine Crest School offering education for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Public school options begin with Cypress Elementary School, which Niche grades a C. Pompano Beach Middle School, a magnet school that implements the iCAN (Integrated Career and Academic Networks) program, receives a C-plus. Niche also grades Blanche Ely High School a C-plus and ranks it in the top 20% of high schools for athletes in Florida.
A quick jaunt to Fort Lauderdale via Route 1
Locals in Cypress Harbor take advantage of their centrality between two major cities. U.S. Route 1 leads south to Fort Lauderdale in just 8 miles, while Interstate 95 runs north to Boca Raton in about 12 miles. Residents can also catch the bus, as several Broward County Transit stops line Cypress Road.Fresh air at Jacoby Park and Pompano Community Park
Sgt. Kip A. Jacoby Park, named for a longtime Pompano Beach resident who lost his life in Afghanistan, lies on the north side of Cypress Harbor. The park, mostly shaded by mature trees, features a playground and tennis courts. A couple miles north of there is the more spacious Pompano Community Park. This city park offers sports fields, an outdoor pool, a dog park and an open-air amphitheater. Beach lovers take advantage of their proximity to Pompano Beach Park, just 3 miles northeast of where the canals streak across their neighborhood.
