Sitting on the border of the United States and Canada, Port Huron has waterfront views, popular restaurants, and plenty to do. Lake Huron provides the city its name, and the parks, waterways, and museums provide its character. It's a quiet, mostly residential city with a dining and shopping district near the Saint Clair River. For views of Lake Huron, residents enjoy lounging at Lighthouse Beach, which is also the site of the iconic Gratiot Lighthouse, Michigan's oldest lighthouse.

Students in the area are part of the Port Huron Area School District, which has a B-minus rating on Niche. The area's youngest learners can begin their educational journey at Garfield Elementary School, which has a C-plus rating. Students continue at Holland Woods Middle School, which has a B-minus rating and finish their secondary education at Port Huron High School, which has a B rating. Port Huron High is known for its diverse sports teams, which include bowling, powerlifting and golf.
Garfield Elementary School is well rated and offers a small 12:1 student to teacher ratio.

Blue water busses and hospitals nearby
The Blue Water Area Transit bus line ferries residents around the city, and I-94 winds through the city, providing easy access to the surrounding area. McLaren Port Huron Hospital and Lake Huron Medical Center are both close to the river and located at the north and south ends of the city, respectively.
