Prince Frederick is a historic town with access to Maryland’s coast
Located in the center of Calvert County, Prince Frederick has been the county seat since 1722 and was named for the English King George’s son Frederick, Prince of Wales. This small, cozy town features a walkable downtown and easy access to Baltimore and Washington. “Calvert County is a hidden gem,” says Mina Kim, general manager at the Prince Frederick SpringHill Suites by Marriott. “Many people never knew the area existed, but once they come here, they love the history, the museums, the water features and the wineries, which are a huge draw as wedding venues and local attractions.” This peaceful suburban town is perfect for commuters looking for a less crowded space in the Baltimore and D.C. metro areas. “Between the rich history and archeological exhibits, to the bustling boardwalk at Solomon’s Island, there’s a lot to enjoy in Prince Frederick,” says Kim.
