Raleigh community with both industry and quiet residential streets
Belvedere Park, sometimes spelled Belvidere Park, is a suburban community just northeast of Downtown Raleigh. Much of the area has quiet, residential streets, but with Capital Boulevard running through it, Belvedere Park also has plenty of industry and businesses. And like many Raleigh neighborhoods, it is experiencing growth and change. “Our neighborhood has been transforming since I moved there in 2008. There was a forest in our backyard, but that’s been turned into homes,” says Daniel Gridley, the Magnet Program Coordinator for Conn Magnet Elementary School in the neighborhood. Gridley lives in the neighborhood and walks to the school each morning: "I'm personally invested in this community, and I think it's being very intentional about meeting the demands of the future."

Renovated cottages and ranches on large lots
Two- and three-bedroom, renovated cottages and ranches in Belvedere Park typically range from $350,000 to $450,000, and condo units near the northern edge of the neighborhood hover around $300,000. For renters, Belvedere Park has large apartment complexes such as Cortland Midtown East. Belvedere Park also has several modern, minimalist homes under construction or recently built for around $1 million to $1.5 million. Neighborhoods in Belvedere Park typically have wide, flat streets dotted with trees. “There’s not many spaces on the streets with sidewalks, but it’s getting better,” Gridley says. “One of the biggest things we’ve advocated for is more curb safety and bike lanes.”

Students attend highly rated Wake County schools
Students may begin at Conn Magnet Elementary School, which earned a B-plus from Niche. “We ensure all students have all experiences. We have an idea factory with three 3D printers, three sewing machines, five podcast mics, a kiln, and so much more. Four hundred of our 550 students have 3D printed this year so far, and 350 have podcasted and are on Spotify,” Gridley says. Among other initiatives, Conn Elementary partners with NC State University, the National Society of Black Engineers, and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. “We want to have opportunities for kids to see themselves represented,” Gridley says. Older students may progress to Ligon Magnet Middle School, which earned an A grade from Niche, and Enloe Magnet High School, which earned an A-plus. North Carolina State University’s main campus is also 5 miles east of Belvedere Park.

Local dining at Fiction Kitchen and Brookside Bodega
At Gateway Plaza off Crabtree Boulevard, Fiction Kitchen serves curated vegan dishes, and Mordecai Beverage Company serves beers on tap for visitors to enjoy on its patio. Brookside Bodega, at the corner of Glascock and Brookside, is a popular spot to grab sandwiches and salads. “We go down there sometimes and eat, and the food is good. You pass by and people are sitting out, and you see people walking to and from there,” says Linora Woods, secretary of St. Matthew African Methodist Episcopal Church in the neighborhood. The neighborhood also has a myriad of businesses and nonprofits clustered around Capital Boulevard, including The Salvation Army, Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina, Picasso Pawn and many more.

Outside at Lions Park and Crabtree Creek Trail
Lions Park is the neighborhood’s signature outdoor space. It has athletic fields and courts, playgrounds, a community center, and its most unique feature, the Capital City BMX track. "We’ve had our kids’ birthday parties at Lions Park. It’s a huge open space,” Gridley says. Crabtree Creek also runs through the community. Locals can walk, run or bike along the scenic creek and through peaceful wooded areas on the Crabtree Creek Greenway, a paved trail system that spans over 19 miles and connects with other major greenways, Neuse River Trail and House Creek Greenway Trail.
Belvedere Park residents can enjoy trampolines, games and more at Sky Zone Trampoline Park.
Fun at Sky Zone Trampoline Park and Dogwood Country Club
The area around Belvedere Park offers several attractions. Dogwood Country Club, off Crabtree Boulevard, is not a typical country club. Here, golfing rookies and experts alike try their hand at the club’s indoor golf simulator, which emulates over 250 real-life championship courses. Just north of the neighborhood, Sky Zone Trampoline Park is a fun place for the whole family to get their energy out. Residents can also make the short drive to Downtown Raleigh, where they visit museums like the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences and Marbles Kids Museum. The neighborhood is also home to Cross Assembly Church, a large church off Yonkers Road.
