Rancho Murieta, an intimate community

The gated Sierra Nevada foothills community of Rancho Murieta attracts homebuyers for its golfing opportunities and laid-back vibe. But mainly, people move to Rancho Murieta to be close to friends and loved ones. “It’s a very tight-knit community. People who live there have 90% of their friends living there as well,” says Broker Associate and Realtor Samuel Weiner, who operates in the area with Samuel Weiner Home Selling Team - eXp Realty. A downside of living in Rancho Murieta is that residents may become bored with its remoteness. “Rancho Murieta is isolated from the rest of the county. It is 30 minutes from any other location,” Weiner says.

A diverse architectural selection

For $450,000, a homebuyer can purchase a three-bedroom, two-bathroom 1970s ranch-style house. A 2019 four-bedroom, three-bathroom farmhouse-style home sells for around $570,000. Accessors value a newly built four-bedroom Mediterranean-style home at around $670,000. A two-bedroom, three-bathroom 1970s bungalow overlooking the fairways of one of the community’s golf courses is valued at around $700,000. Homebuyers can purchase a four-bedroom, three-bathroom stone and stucco exterior home for $870,000. A 1980s three-bedroom, three-bathroom custom home with redwood siding and an in-ground swimming pool is valued at $970,000.

Deer Creek Hills Preserve runs along the northern border of Rancho Murieta. The preserve is home to 4,500 acres of oak woodlands and grasslands. It is popular among hikers, equestrians and bird watchers. The community has a disc golf course, which many residents enjoy because it allows them to socialize while walking through miles of greenspace. One of the area’s main attractions is Rancho Murieta Country Club, home to two 18-hole golf courses as well as multiple tennis and pickleball courses. The privately-owned Murieta Equestrian Center has five indoor horseback riding arenas, nine outdoor arenas, 1,000 horse stalls, 3,000 bleacher seats and cattle facilities. The center regularly hosts events for show jumping and dressage, and it is a popular place for residents to keep and ride their horses.

Residents can catch an Amador Transit bus on Murieta South Parkway and travel as far east as Sutter Hill Transit Center and as far west as Downtown Sacramento. “A lot of people work from home there, but some still commute to Sacramento,” Weiner says.
