Residential haven neighboring Enterprise Park recreation complex
"Redding is intersected by Interstate 5 and made up of four quadrants, on either side of I-5," says Ron Marin, Realtor with Coldwell Banker, who's been selling in the area since 2010. "In this southeast quadrant where Oak Haven sits, it's all residential." Oak Haven homes curve along streets that branch off Victor Avenue into loops and cul-de-sacs trimmed by a forest buffer, so there's no through traffic. Its compact layout of several hundred homes sits between Redding's Starview and Enterprise neighborhoods, bordering the 90-acre Enterprise Park. "Being right next to the park is the biggest draw to Oak Haven," says Tammy Krumvieda, owner/broker with Mistletoe Realty, who's been selling in the area since 1996. "Kids play soccer games there; they have a nice frisbee golf course, and pickleball's a big thing." The neighborhood is tucked into a quiet southeast pocket, but it's a cinch to reach the city's main mall, a private golf club or the Sacramento River within 3 to 5 miles.
Enterprise Park is part of the Oak Haven lifestyle
Oak Haven borders the 90-acre Enterprise Park, so kids hop on bikes to play at the sports fields, and kids of all ages enjoy disc golf and pickleball. The hot spot at Enterprise Park is the cool Kids' Kingdom, featuring a large, shaded playground and a seasonal public, free splash zone with multiple water sprays — including a volcano that "erupts" every few minutes. Locals are also only a 3-mile, 7-minute drive to the private Riverview Country Club, where members play a picturesque course overlooking the Sacramento River or dine at The Lounge for brunch, date nights and special events. The neighborhood's eastern border is Victor Avenue, which connects to Route 44, making it easy to day trip about an hour east to Lassen Volcanic National Park. This hiker's paradise is quilted with wildflower meadows, steaming fumaroles and jagged scenic peaks. "You can also drive about 20 or 30 minutes west," adds Marin, "to swim, fish or kayak at Whiskeytown Lake. And the biggie, Mount Shasta, is a staple in our landscape. That's about an hour north."
Modest single-family homes from starter to Somerset Estates
"Oak Haven is mostly smaller, single-family homes," says Marin, "and it's all developed out. So, you're right in the thick of neighborhoods that have been around a while and sort of characterize the Enterprise area." Subdivisions that comprise Oak Haven include Oak Creek to the north, Somerset Estates in the center, and Galaxy Way to the south. "The planets area, as we call it, where Galaxy Way connects with streets named Cirrus, Venus and Mercury, are all entry-level homes, maybe with a single-car garage, where they're being picked up and revamped," says Krumveida. "Somerset is where you have newer homes with stucco exteriors and tile roofs, and a lot of the homes on Oak Haven Court are more wood style." Modest single-level homes built in the late 1980s range from $375,000 to $414,000. Larger homes in Somerset Estates, many with backyard pools, ask between $400,000 and $490,000. Streets offer peekaboo mountain views and are flanked by narrow sidewalks. Trees are well-established, and green lawns sport decorative pebble edging.
Many single story homes can be found in Oak Haven.

Minutes from Mount Shasta Mall and movie theater, blocks from vintage diner on Hartnell
"There are only a few places to go close to home on Hartnell Avenue, like Casa Rios Grill and the Castle Lounge, which is a bar," adds Marin, "but you're just minutes from Mount Shasta Mall and the movie theater." At Mount Shasta Mall, shoppers can peruse dozens of stores. The mall's Cinemark Redding 14 theaterplex sits across the parking lot from a 24/7 WinCo Foods supermarket. "Dude's Drive-In on Hartnell," says Marin, "is an olden-days, '50s place, where the waitresses used to put orders on your window back in the day. They don't do that anymore, but it's still a good ole' eatery for hot dogs and hamburgers like you'd find in the '50s." There's also Sweetspot, which Krumvieda says just recently relocated to Hartnell. "They do have a menu of meals, but it's known as a great place to get really special cupcakes for events," says Krumvieda. For groceries and sundries, Oak Haven residents are closest to Holiday Market on Hartnell, which is undergoing an expansion that will add a new Starbucks. Residents can also drive about 2.5 miles southwest to the Save Mart on Churn Creek Road, which shares its plaza with a Starbucks and Ross clothing store.
Close to major medical and Redding Regional Airport
Roadways in Redding aren't typically crowded, so residents primarily drive. However, if public transportation is needed for commuting to work or errands, the Redding Area Bus Authority has stops along Victor and Hartnell avenues and Churn Creek Road. "This isn't one of those California dotcom or IT places for employment," Marin adds, "but there are a number of small businesses. And the leaders in this neck of the woods are medical, retail and all the hotels lining Hilltop a couple minutes north. From Oak Haven, you can drive to Shasta Regional Medical Center in 10 minutes and Mercy Medical in 15." The Shasta Community Health Center, a teaching institution with residency and fellowship programs that offers physical and mental health care as well as vision and dental care, is just 3 miles north of central Oak Haven. The Redding Regional Airport is a 6-mile, 12-minute drive southeast.
Year-round fun from spring show choir to fall football
For Oak Haven residents, there's a calendar of Redding events to enjoy. Every April, Enterprise High School's show choir, Starship, performs in Redding's Kool April Nites event at the Redding Civic Auditorium less than 5 miles from Oak Haven. In June, the Riverview Country Club west of I-5 hosts Shasta County's largest golf tournament, the Redding Pro-Am. For the Fourth of July, revelers converge at the Redding Civic Auditorium for Freedom Festival fireworks. And every October since 1993, neighbors have been tailgating and celebrating at Enterprise High or Shasta High for the annual rivalry River Bowl game. Oak Haven's Enterprise High families are especially proud of their school's record of winning more times than Shasta in the game's decades-long running.
