Richfield blends rural roots with convenience to Cleveland and Akron

The village of Richfield gives buyers access to plenty of single-family homes and outdoor attractions while being within commuting distance to Cleveland and Akron. Named after the area's rich soil, Richfield has steadily grown from a farming community into a northern Ohio suburb of 3,700 residents. While it still has many suburban accents, it maintains its rural feel. “There are some parts where you feel like you're in a normal city or normal neighborhood, and there are other parts where you are out in horse country. We’ve got very large spaces,” says Aaron Rich, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty, who has been selling for eight years. “It's got a good proximity to highways, shopping, restaurants and recreational activities.”

Various home styles with some HOA presence

Richfield has various types of home archetecutre, from ranch-styles and split-levels to Tudor Revivals and New Traditionals. European-inspired and modernist estates are also present. The median housing price is $882,000, higher than the state and national medians. However, depending on the property's size, age and condition, prices can be as low as $200,000 to over $3 million. Some homes are HOA-controlled.
Homes typically have larger lot sizes than the national average with oak and pine trees accenting lawns. Newer home communities can have less tree cover and lots closer together.

Rich says that the locale has attracted a mix of retirees and families. “People like it here, that’s the important part,” says Rich. “They stay here for a long time and usually want their kids to stay in the area.”
