The neighborhood’s winding streetscapes provide scenic views of the surrounding hills, with some homes offering glimpses of the San Francisco Bay between the area’s forested slopes. The neighborhood’s housing was built in various styles and sizes from the 1960s to today, with a few newer builds. Some of the most common styles include Mediterranean houses, often with red-tiled rooftops, and mid-century ranch-style homes. Other styles include traditional homes and wood-shingled Craftsman houses. Large and mid-sized lots are the predominant feature here, often with lush landscaping and tall evergreen and palm trees. Home prices typically range from $700,000 to $1.3 million. El Sobrante Hills has a CAP Index Crime score of 2 out of 10, which is lower than the national average of 4.Public schools with college and career programs

The B-minus-rated De Anza Senior High School offers numerous AP classes and is known for its strong college and career preparatory programs.Vast recreational spaces and nearby community parks
El Sobrante Hills is surrounded by vast outdoor recreation. The expansive Sobrante Ridge Regional Preserve is the neighborhood’s main recreation site. This 277-acre natural oasis features various trail systems that lead to scenic ridgetop vistas. Kennedy Grove Regional Recreation Area is located just west of the neighborhood. This concert series features free live music performances along downtown city blocks from some of the area’s most talented bands and artists.Near Interstate 80 with backroad access
El Sobrante Hills is about 4 miles from Interstate 80, which can be heavily trafficked, but the neighborhood offers other alternatives. “The nice thing about this area is that because of where it’s located, you can actually take the backroads to avoid a lot of the traffic,” Reichert says. It’s also about 7 miles from the Richmond BART station for light rail travel to places like Oakland, San Francisco or Silicon Valley. The San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport is about 26 miles south for domestic and international flights.
