Marina Bay
Waterside condos and townhomes
A few gated waterfront subdivisions compose a large part of the neighborhood’s residential housing tracts that are connected by wide, tree-lined boulevards. Marina Bay’s housing options primarily consist of condos and townhouses with a few streets of single-family homes that are all often within walking distance of the Richmond Ferry Station. Home prices in the neighborhood can range from around $400,000 to $800,000, depending on whether it’s a small one-bedroom condo, a three-bedroom townhouse or a larger single-family home. While those prices are lower than what is typical in the Bay Area, where most homes start around $1 million, Marina Bay’s housing has high homeowner association fees. These HOA fees often cover exterior maintenance, sewer, trash, water and common community areas.Top rated schools and a nearby charter academy
Students in Marina Bay are zoned to the West Contra Costa School District, located outside of the neighborhood. This includes Washington Elementary, rated at a C-minus from Niche, followed by the B-minus-rated Korematsu Middle School. The C-minus-rated John F. Kennedy High School offers extensive AP and career technical education courses. Along the western side of the inner harbor, however, children can complete Kindergarten through Grade 12 at three popular charter schools, including Benito Juarez Elementary, Richmond Charter Academy and John Henry High. Amethod Public Schools, a local nonprofit that opened the first charter school in Oakland about 30 years ago, manages these charter schools and admits new students through a lottery system.Bayside walking trails with scenic views
Outdoor recreational attractions surround the Marina Bay neighborhood. Paved trails throughout the neighborhood connect residents to small parks with scenic bay views. At Marina Bay Park, the Rosie the Riveter Memorial’s steel landmark sculpture, picturesque gardens and photo exhibits pay homage to the neighborhood’s shipyard history and the women who contributed to the war effort by working in factories and building arms. The neighborhood has two other prominent parks, offering residents even more recreational amenities. Shimada Friendship Park has an expansive open green lawn space and waterside trails for running and biking, while nearby Barbara and Jay Vincent Park features a large playground and expansive bayside views.Holiday festivals and a concert series in nearby downtown
The city of Richmond offers a variety of community events for Marina Bay residents to enjoy. During the holidays, locals head to the longstanding Downtown Holiday Festival for a winter wonderland-style event featuring family-friendly activities, local food vendors and visits from Santa. When summer arrives, residents enjoy the popular Music on the Main event. This annual concert series features free live music performances along the downtown city blocks from some of the area’s most talented bands and artists.Waterfront restaurants and food-hall style hubs
A former Ford assembly plant – which was used during World War II to produce thousands of tanks and jeeps – anchors Marina Harbor’s commercial zone, as it now houses restaurants, offices, stores and an event space. Located here is Assemble, a new food-hall-style marketplace that brings together a Texas barbecue joint, an oyster bar and a farm-fresh California-style restaurant. Lara's Fine Dining is one of the most beloved restaurants in Marina Harbor. This small waterfront restaurant resembles a cozy bed-and-breakfast cottage, complete with a piano room where a performer adds to the ambiance. “There are different dining rooms, and the food is really great,” Hansen-Romero says. “The servers are so dedicated and treated well by the owner. It has a real family atmosphere.” When opting to eat at home, residents can find grocery staples at the Richmond Food Center, located one mile away on Cutting Boulevard.Access to main freeway and Marina Bay Ferry
The main Interstate 580 freeway routes past the neighborhood to the north, so Marina Bay residents can easily drive into Oakland or cross one of the Bay Area’s bridges to enter San Francisco or Marin County. Alternatively, residents can utilize the nearby Richmond Ferry Terminal and hop on a boat to travel or commute to downtown San Francisco or one of the adjacent neighborhoods where large corporations and tech companies are based. For domestic and international flights, the closest airport is Oakland International Airport, located 20 miles south of Marina Bay.
