Situated 3 miles south of the James River in Richmond, Hioaks is a quiet neighborhood adjacent to Chippenham Hospital. Bordered by Midlothian Turnpike and Chippenham Parkway, Hioaks offers residents a blend of convenience and accessibility to Richmond, Chesterfield, and beyond.

Apartment complexes dominate the residential market in Hioaks. The Point at Beaufont apartment complex features one to three-bedroom apartments and has amenities such as a 24/7 fitness center and outdoor swimming pool. Rent ranges from $1,200 to $2,000 per month. Nearby complexes, Blue Ridge Estates and Reserve South Apartments, have similar offerings. The neighborhood is also home to The Barrington at Hioaks, an Assisted Living community perched on 12 acres.

Students in Hioaks attend Miles Jones Elementary School, Lucille M. Brown Middle School and Huguenot High School, which all belong to the Richmond Public Schools district. Miles Jones Elementary’s SPACE program offers high-achieving students the opportunity to benefit from an additional custom curriculum in grades 2 through 5.

For a refreshing dose of the outdoors, immerse yourself in nature at the expansive Powhite Park. This popular 100-acre park has lush, interconnected trails suitable for running, hiking and mountain biking. Locals call the park a best-kept secret, as it tends to be far less crowded than other parks in the area. Just a few blocks north of the neighborhood, you’ll find the popular outdoor skateboard park, Best Life Ever Skatepark. Open 24 hours a day, this park is free of cost and boasts challenging rails, concrete bowls, and ample space for people of all ages to spend time practicing their skateboarding skills.

Pick up groceries down the street at Kroger on Tim Price Way. When you want to go on a shopping spree, hop on Chippenham Parkway and head to the Chesterfield Towne Center area, where you’ll find a sprawling mall and many familiar retailers like Target, Costco and Home Depot, along with extensive options for dining and entertainment.

When hungry, Midlothian Turnpike is packed with options. Head to Abuelita’s for authentic Mexican cuisine. Try their rotating stew options or cactus salad. Korean Garden is another nearby option, serving tender Korean BBQ cooked right at your table.

Medical care couldn’t be closer with Chippenham Hospital, which has been awarded the “America's 250 Best Hospitals Award” for the past 3 years, right in the neighborhood. When you want to get to the big city, hop on Powhite Parkway for an easy 7-mile drive to downtown Richmond.
