What housing styles and prices you can find in Virginia Union
The median home sale price in Virginia Union is in the mid-$400,000s, higher than Richmond’s overall median and that of nearby Southern Barton Heights, but lower than what you're likely to find in Northern Barton Heights or Ginter Park. Prices typically range from the upper $200,000s to the lower $600,000s. “I personally love this area because of the homes themselves,” says Candace Faircloth, a longtime Richmond resident and a Realtor with Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville Real Estate. “I love older homes and the American Foursquare; this part of town is really where they’re most popular.” Buyers can also find Colonial Revivals and bungalows built in the 1920s and ‘30s, as well as newer builds with modern designs. Some residents rent their homes, and there are apartment buildings close to campus.

Residents living near this intersection might experience traffic or noise from football games, but otherwise, the neighborhood stays relatively quiet. “I've had clients move in over there, and they’ve loved every minute of it,” Faircloth says. “I’ve never had anyone come back and say, ‘Oh, it’s too loud’ or ‘Oh, it’s too busy’ or ‘Oh, there’s too much foot traffic’ or ‘I can never find parking.’”
A city location with a neighborly vibe
Virginia Union’s location, large homes and yard space appeal to a variety of buyers. “A lot of them are first-time homebuyers, a lot of younger families,” Faircloth says. “It’s super centralized to everything you need to get to without having to be smack dab in the middle of the city. You have privacy and that familiar feel with your neighbors without it being too busy or overwhelming.”
