Riverside has a diverse collection of midcentury modern homes, townhouses, and condos just steps away from the banks of Bush River in Harford County. This suburban community is also bordered by bustling Interstate 95 to the north, which commuters can take north to Wilmington or south to Baltimore in less than an hour. The community is also called Belcamp, and both names are accepted by locals and the U.S. Postal Service under the zip code of 21017. "The affordability is appealing, it's outside of Bel Air, so you don't have to pay the higher home prices there," says Michelle Kahl, a Harford County local and Realtor with Coldwell Banker.
Modest single-family homes beside townhouse and condo subdivisions
Buyers can find Cape Cods, split-levels and new millennium built Craftsman-style homes along organized suburban streets. Many colonial-style townhouses are available in subdivisions like Eagles Landing at Waters Edge. Home prices in Riverside range from $160,000 to $600,000 and vary by square footage and lot size. Condos and townhouses are the lowest-priced options, while single-family homes are the highest.

Aberdeen High School hosts Army Outreach STEM programs
Harford County Public Schools is the main district serving Riverside and is ranked as the second-best school district in the Baltimore area by Niche. Students can attend Church Creek Elementary, with a B-rating from Niche, while Aberdeen Middle gets a C-plus rating, and Aberdeen High School receives an A-minus. The high school offers the Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program, where Department of Defense scientists mentor rising seniors interested in specific STEM fields.

Close to Bush River Yacht Club, and Discovery Center at Water's Edge
Riverside Community Center is just off Church Creek Road and features a community pool, picnic pavilion and playground. Cyclists can also ride down the paved Riverside Bike Path, which snakes through the community. Discovery Center at Water's Edge is a science museum by the Bush River, with family-friendly STEM-oriented exhibits, and it's a popular destination for local school field trips. "Most of the boat ramps around Riverside are private; there is a launching area off Route 40, and there's the Bush River Yacht Club in Abingdon, right up the road," says Kahl. "You don't have to own a boat to be a member; some also join for the community pool membership." Bush River Yacht Club also features a clubhouse with bar and food service, and a pavilion with gas grills.

Shopping along Riverside Parkway and nearby Harford County retailers
Riverside Parkway hosts a ShopRite for groceries and a handful of fast-food chain restaurants. Locals can head to Riverside Pub & Grille to order wings, nachos and Maryland crab soup, or happy hour specials for wine, beer and cocktails on weekdays. "The shopping center in Riverside is small, but there's so much else around Harford County, it's conveniently close to a lot of other options," says Robert Rich, a Harford County local and Realtor with Long & Foster Real Estate. Boulevard at Boxhill is a nearby shopping center six miles west, with Wegmans and retailers like Old Navy and At Home.

Commuters can reach Baltimore, Wilmington or nearby military employers
Baltimore is a 31-mile drive south along I-95, which takes about 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Wilmington is a 47-mile drive north on I-95, which also takes just under an hour. "Baltimore certainly is the big draw; it's also close to Aberdeen Proving Ground, a military community, so Belcamp is very convenient for contractors and employees there," says Rich. Riverside is less than ten miles from the Aberdeen Proving Ground, a U.S. Army facility. Baltimore/Washington International Airport is 38 miles south and is the busiest airport in the National Capital Region. The MedStar Health Medical Campus is a nearby hospital just seven miles from the community.
