Warren began as a 19th-century farming community
As one of the oldest communities in Roberts, Wisconsin, the village of Warren dates back to the 1800s when pioneers from New York and New England first settled it. The St. Croix County village grew rapidly in the late 19th century, thanks to its location along the West Wisconsin Railroad. Today, Warren is a thriving community with a strong economy and a high quality of life. The village was founded in 1873 by the chief engineer for the West Wisconsin Railroad and named in his honor. Warren quickly grew into a thriving agricultural community and by the early 1900s, had a number of businesses and industries, including a creamery, a flour mill and a lumber mill. Warren is home to a number of historic buildings and homes, many of which are still in use today.
