About Rockcreek, OR

Rockcreek: A tight-knit city in northwest Oregon

Rockcreek is a suburban area known for its extensive trails, parks and namesake country club. The city of about 10,000 is located 13 miles from Portland and 20 miles from Vancouver and the Washington state line. “Rockcreek is a fantastic area,” says Casey Jones, a local Realtor and third-generation Rockcreek resident. “It has a lot going for it, with all of its parks and trails. And it's super walkable. It’s easy for kids to get to and from school.” Rockcreek is suburban, but it has no HOAs. Instead, it has a voluntary community club, the Rock Creek Community Association. “Usually, when there’s no HOA, there are no events — but that’s not the case for Rockcreeek,” Jones says. “It’s a neighborhood where people look out for each other. We better the community by choice.”

The Silicon Forest

The city’s population hasn’t changed much over the past decade. “It’s one of those communities where many of my neighbors are still there,” Jones says. “There’s a lot of long-time residents and people who move back.” Rockcreek is 9 miles from Hillsboro, an area known as the Silicon Forest because it has many notable companies such as Apple, Intel and Nike. “It’s an easy commute to local employers nearby,” Jones says. The city’s median household income is about $104,000, compared to $80,000 nationally.
