Stone Creek-Rockwall
New elementary school with high Niche grades
Students begin at the recently opened Sherry and Paul Hamm Elementary School for kindergarten through sixth grade. Named after two educators that worked in the district, the school opened its doors in the fall of 2020. Students then attend J.W. Williams Middle School for seventh and eighth grade before attending Rockwall High School. Rockwall High offers the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs, as well as opportunities for dual credit with Collin College and dual enrollment with the University of Texas at Austin. All three schools earn an A from Niche.Butterfly parks, paths and Lake Ray Hubbard to the west
The Park at Stone Creek has a paved walking path around the edges of the park, surrounding a large open space. A playground and pavilion sit on the eastern edge of the park, overlooking the small pond. Fishing is allowed at the pond, but it is a catch-and-release pond, so anything caught must be put back in the water. Much like the other parks in Rockwall, a butterfly garden with seasonal plants to attract butterflies is planted in Stone Creek. A public boat launch for Lake Ray Hubbard is about 3 miles southwest. “Everyone wants to be on the lake,” Walker says.Music events through the summer
Rockwall has holiday celebrations like the 4th of July Parade and Fireworks. “The Harbor Rockwall has concerts right there on the water,” says Walker. “That’s the place that draws the crowds.” Concert By The Lake is a free event during the summer where local bands take to the stage.Neighborhood groceries and farmers market to the south
In the northwest corner of the neighborhood, The Shops at Stone Creek has a Tom Thumb and a few restaurants, including chain restaurants and the locally owned Mogio’s Gourmet Pizza. Downtown Rockwall is a little more than 2 miles south and has locally owned shops and restaurants lining the streets, including Book Club Café and the boutique Brooke and Blue. The Rockwall Farmers Market takes place on Saturday mornings from May through September in downtown Rockwall. First established in 2008, the market has over 50 local vendors.Semi-custom homes no older than 2010
Stone Creek – Rockwall has two homeowners associations in the neighborhood: Stone Creek and Quail Hollow. New Traditional homes fill the neighborhood with nothing older than 2010. There are some single-story homes, but most are two-story Colonial Revival inspired, although some Tudor-inspirations are scattered throughout as well. Prices range from $445,000 to $949,000. While most of the neighborhood has been developed, a few plots still remain where homebuyers can pick from multiple designs to have a semi-custom-built home. While backyard pools aren’t uncommon, they are not in every home. There are some smaller ponds within the neighborhood, so homes may have backyard water views. Sidewalks cross in front of every home, and walking paths meander their way through Stone Creek – Rockwall.State highway as the border, interstate to the south
State Highway 205, or North John King Boulevard, acts as the eastern border of Stone Creek-Rockwall. There’s no public transportation in Rockwall, but Interstate 30 is about two and a half miles south.
